Default It Just ISN'T Right

And I feel bad about it.

Today was one of those days NOTHING goes right. You feel like you'd be better off going back to bed and waiting till tomorrow to get up.

We planned on going to this car show we attend every single year and after 15 years, I only missed one of their shows. And that was only cause they cancelled the show for rain (on a bright, sunny day) and held the show the next weekend. But I had other plans by then.

So after we FINALLY get this show, we clean up the Pace car and get it ready for judging. I put the "Ready To Be Judged" sticker in the windshield so the judges would know the car was ready for them. We were setting behind the car, just taking in the day, and trying stay warm. Kind of chilly out with the rain moving in.

The group of judges walk up to the car at the right of the PAce car, they judge it. They come to the Pace car and keep walking. I mean they went immediately to the car on the left and didn't even judge the Pace car. What's the deal here? I paid my $10 entry fee.

The rain moves in, we all huddle under the large tent the Church put up for the show. And they start giving out awards.

Very last award and gee, they didn't call our car number. WHY?

I know there were over 200 cars at this show. Most of them vey nice. Were they all nicer then the Pace car? It's starting to bother me now. And it wasn't enough they called our car number for a door prize, told everyone they had two minutes to get up here to get their door prizes or they were out of luck. I'm standing there waiting on them to notice me. While I'm looking at them like I'm stupid they erase my car number. I ask them to help me and they tell me, "You weren't here soon enough, no door pirze." I flipped my door prize ticket out of my hand and walked off. What could I do?

So back to the awards.

After they announce the show is over, I go up and ask, "Why wasn't my car judged?"

I told them I was only wondering why? I wasn't making trouble.

The man who puts this show together worked for my dad at Chrysler for 30 years. He knows my dad very well. He proceeds to walk off after telling me to stay put. And he comes back with an award and hands it to me. I tell him it's not right and I can't accept this award. He says a mistake was made and they intended to give the Pace car and award. For me to take the award. What could I do?

I feel bad about the whole situation. Cause I feel I was given this award only cause this man likes my dad. I know if I mention this event to my mother, I'll never hear the end of how I used my dad's reputation to my advantage.

SO SORRY to hear about the issues you had yesterday RJ. You (Debbie) have a GREAT Pace Car Monte Carlo!
It seems like most of the problems I hear about with car shows are all Church sponsored shows. why is that??? I don't understand, and I sympathize with you RJ.

Maybe we can have a Monte Carlo meet n greet / show at our new property just north of Marshall this summer???

Damn dude that sucks.
You should have said something just as they were skipping your Pace Car.

I wouldn't have taken the award after all was said and done.
No point then.

I don't know which part of yesterday irritated me the most?

Attended @ gas station will not turn pump on.
AGH! now there's a train coming that we'll have to wait on or drive around which takes more time.
I'm 14 cars past getting a dash plaque. (I like collecting them)
Get the car on the show field, and "someone" forgot the wash bucket to clean the car.
Did I mention we were eating lunch outside. The wind picked up and spilled my lunch.

Debbie suggested we mail the award back to the Church. Include a note on how we're sorry that a mistake was made and we want to correct it.

RJ, that really sucks man, sorry to hear about what happened. I also like dash plaques, although I only have 2, I think they are pretty neat I wanted to start a thread for members to post their dash plaques, but my 2 probably don't come close to how many you have...

Default it will pass.........

..Sounds like the last car show that I attended. The fliers said to be there 12:00- 3:00 ( kinda odd ). I was one of the last cars there when I got there at 12:30. Yeahp, someone miss informed people and I didn't think about it being a type-o.... My loss but I did have a good time. I've been to a couple of shows where the judging was either biased toward Corvettes & Mustangs or "The Good-Ole Boy" system came into play and it Stinks.
You just have to let it roll off your back. If you're like me however, You want to see fair and honest judging and Not by anyone who doesn't know what they are doing. I don't really care about getting trophies ( but they are nice ); I just want to have a good time and see other cars that ARE DESERVING of placing and winning.

I can see if we'd have been setting near the car the entire time. Then I would have known if it got judged earlier or not? We walked around looking at cars, and lunch, and whatever before we returned to the car. That's when I saw the group of judges headed down the isle looking cars over.

We did have a few things setting in the trunk and I removed them. So the judges could get a decent look the car. They didn't walk past the front wheels cause they took enough time to walk from the right to left of the car or to judge the cars on the right of us, then on the left of us.
