Default Ingenuity or Stupidity?

Hey all, i came up with an interesting idea the other day. while i was out running errands i had a bottle of soda and some medicine that needed to stay cool, so i stuck them both in the center console of my 5th gen until i got where i was going. When i pulled them out maybe 20 minutes later they were still surprisngly cold and i thought to myself.

What if i put down a paper towel (to collect moisture) and put a couple ice packs in there and create my own sort of mini fridge. The center console is quite large and i think could easily handle a few bottles of soda or some cans. Just an interesting thought, i would love to hear peoples opinions on this

That is the other thing, my monte is no where near show quality, she is my daily driver and is rough around the edges so this would only apply to montes in not so perfect shape. And mike for some reason your post is the number one and my op post is the 2nd reply

Lmao... that happens sometimes...

As for the monte console refrigerator... drill a holethrough the floor pan and put a hose to drain the water, then run some a/c ducting to the console... with ice packs... that'll keep everything cooler for longer.
Remember, I am from Tennessee.

Ace makes what they call a reusable cold compress. You stick it in your freezer for a couple hours and it becomes frozen, but remains flexible. One for the bottom, one for each side and one for the top and you'd have a mini fridge inside your console. Here's a link to what I'm talking about:

the ace package is a good idea well and it probally wont create as much moisture. Augi the duct idea is good, but a bit more than i'd feel like doing. If this idea can have a use in the next few months before winter i'll give it a try and let you all know.

I really don't think sticking bags of ice in your center console is a good idea. I suppose you could do like Chrysler did, and stick an air conditioning port inside the center console and call it a fridge.

By the way, how the hell did Mike reply 10 minutes before Keane created the thread?
