<!--leftside ends here -->Most of the world’s greatest sports cars and supercars send their power to the rear wheels (admittedly some send power to all four wheels). From the 1910s to the late 1970s, the majority of cars on the road were rear-wheel drive. By 1981 almost all manufacturers, with a few exceptions, had added at least one front-wheel drive vehicle to their stable.
Front-wheel drive cars are generally cheaper to build, and many believe they return better fuel economy than rear-wheel drive cars. But for many enthusiasts, most front-wheel drive cars leave a lot on the table in terms of performance (with few exceptions such as the Volkswagen Golf and Mini Cooper). They suffer from torque-steer – whether in cornering or if feeding too much torque.
Back in 2004 we tested a Focus ZX3 hatchback that had been converted to rear-wheel drive by Ford Racing with the help of Kugel Components. Dubbed the Ford Racing Focus RS8 we pitted it against a Lamborghini Gallardo with surprising results.
Forum member (?) says he always wanted to convert an all-wheeldrive 1995-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX to rear-wheel drive. The next on his list is would be to convert a Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS 5th/6th/7th Generation to rear-wheel drive. We want to know: What car you would convert to rear-wheel drive?
I know they make conversion kit's for Fords by Kugel Components, but does anyone know of a conversion kit's for Chevy's FWD's to RWD's ? Please post/share `if you do...Thanks
