Update: Outages mount: 'several days' before power restoration for some
GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Large portions of Grand Rapids and surrounding rural areas are without power Sunday morning after an ice storm blew through the area overnight, causing downed tree limbs and difficult driving conditions.
The worst of the West Michigan outages is in Kent County, where nearly 22,000 customers are without power, according to Consumers Energy.
Statewide, more than 155,000 customers are without power.
In the Grand Rapids area, approximately 1,700 users are in the dark in Grand Rapids and Plainfield townships along the East Beltline between Leonard and the Thousand Oaks Golf Club along the river to the east.

There’s another large swath of outages along Alpine Avenue NW north of I-96, where about 2,800 customers are in the dark in the Comstock Park area.
South of I-196, there are large swaths of outages along Cascade Road north to Fulton Street, and scattered outages on the city’s Southeast Side.
Southeast of Grand Rapids, the Alto area looks to be hard hit by outages.
Here's a local county-by-county list of outage numbers from Consumers:
• Allegan: 4,706 customers without power.
• Barry: 14,415 customers without power.
• Ionia 4,961 customers without power.
• Kent: 21,958 customers without power.
• Montcalm: 3,679 customers without power.
• Ottawa: 1,347 customers without power.
Here's a link to the Consumers Energy outage map.
