Only you can decide what you want in life.
Also, theres plenty of jobs on the legal side of NASCAR.
What with all the rules and regulations.

I agree that an Engineering Degree would be your best bet for a 2 or 4 year degree.... if you are a mechanical type person. I would suggest the you get a "Mechanical Engineering Degree" as this degree is multi discipline. Electrical engineering and Civil engineering are not as broad of a degree, and a mechanical degree will give you more opportunities. If you want in to Nascar there are automotive tech schools that you could attend after earning your college degree like....

Just so you know I went to a vocational high school and was in their CAD/Drafting program and was placed in a job with an engineering firm my senior year of high school. I graduated and worked full-time as a CAD operator in the engineering field and went to college at night. I graduated from The University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Good luck and be sure to do something you like. Engineering is not a repetitive type job and requires problem solving skills (solving anything and everything) and you have to be able to multi-task.

I too had NO idea what I wanted to do after getting out of the Navy! My Dad got me a job in the Tool & Die shop. I did that for 4 yrs. Then I found out that General Motors were hiring. I jumped into that with both feet . I was there for over 32.5 yrs. I liked what I was doing. I had a ton of friends my age and the $$ was great. Just liked everything they had to offer. My thing was to make a living for my New wife and I. Everything else was second! So my choices we easy do what I can to make a living. It worked out for me BIG time. I was mostly in the machine shop. I loved what I was doing with my hands. And I was good at it also helped. Find something you don't mind doing and pour yourself into it. GOOD LUCK

 

Hey everybody thank you so much for sharing your life stories with me and giving me advice. I appreciate it that you all even took the time to do that. Just one of the many reasons why I love this forum. It's not just a forum it's a community of friends. With that being said I think I am going to continue studying business and most likely major in either economics or marketing. I plan to take that degree and try to work for GM or even a NASCAR team. After all marketing is what makes NASCAR go round. As far as car related stuff I plan on going to a local community college to take some automotive classes after I get my four year degree in business. I'm going to treat cars like my hobby so that I don't put all my eggs in one basket and ruin something that I really love. I figure atleast if I work for GM or a NASCAR team I can atleast be involved with the industry I love and maybe even one day own my own racing team or shop or even work for a racing team a little on the side. Marketing is a very very good field to get into. Trust me, I work under a Marketing Director haha.

You can really get yourself a solid job, if you also take an interest in basic design principles. Not just what works in marketing, but also be able to be knowledgeable and be able to carry a conversation with a group of designers.
