There is more of a market for sedans than 2-doors. My guess anyways.

I'll have to agree with RickAKATed10,

Part of the reason why they stoped making the Monte isnt?

Hard to believe, but true unfortunately.

You can always strap a couple of doors from a local junk yard to your roof, and add 5 grand more to the value of your car. lol. (just kidding)

LOL, worth a shot i guess? but why would you care about the value of the car.. shouldn't be thinking of selling it! (unless its to buy a faster one!!)

I'll go with the 4-doors theory.

I hardly think our cars are stupid. Not the most intelligent car in the garage. But not stupid. Just kidding.

That is a good point though.

But is nobody buying Monte's because it's discontinued? Or is it the other way around? Is the Monte discontinued because nobody was buying them?

I tend to believe the Monte was discontinued because people weren't buying them. Heck, there's a Chevy dealer nearby that still has a silver 2007 SS still sitting on the lot. It was used as a dealership demo for a short time. They've lowered the price a few times, and it still doesn't sell. Meanwhile, Impalas are selling no problem.

People want and/or need a four door car. The 06 & 07 Impalas look like four door Monte Carlos. So if a person can get the same look and performance out of an Impala, with the added accessibility of four doors, then why not buy the Impala?

Not saying I prefer the Impala, but I imagine that's what most Impala buyers are thinking.

i definitely agree with you there. there is an 07 SS on my buddy's lot that's been sitting there since right around when i got my car last year (first of July). price has been lowered twice. the same lot had 2 mustangs for sale for almost 2 years. bob (the owner) said the market for the 2 door cars with small-ish backseats just isn't overwhelming, everyone needs something more economical, and especially with gas prices what they are (or were, and probably going to be again), something that will get better mileage.

one of the big reasons i went with the monte over the mustang (besides the fact that it has more options and fun stuff, i fell madly in love with it right away and wanted to sleep in it in the lot the first day i looked at it) was because there are SO many 'stangs around here and very very few monte carlos. i wanted something that not everyone else has. there are 3 new-ish mustangs in driveways on my street alone. in the monte, especially the TS series, i always stand out.

i suppose driving around bumpin' country music makes me stand out too, but ehh.

Speaking of the Impala's selling, I was reminiscing of the old rag top Impalas. That went 6 degrees to thinking about what ragtops does GM sell anymore other than the Corvette??? As I was typing this I remembered the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky but these are all 2 passenger. What about 4 passenger?
