Interesting topic. Just be aware, "what's your first car" can be a common password reset security question (this is the IT guy in me doing a PSA).

I am leaving out the pick up trucks my dad and I have co-owned over the years (4 to date), a car I bought as a fix-n-flip and any vehicles belonging to the ex-wife and my ex-GF. Everything I am listing hear has always been 100% mine.

First Car: My first car, 1984 Buick Century while I was trying to do some amateur body work that never got finished. Little 4 cylinder. Sold this car after 6 or 9 months of ownership.

I bought this while I was in high school. Had an AM/FM stereo, swapped that for a tape deck, later used the cassette adapter with a portable CD player.

Second Car: 1984 Z28 Camaro! I added the aftermarket hood. L69 305 HO v8, 5 speed manual and T-Tops. Fun car (bought off the first cop that ever wrote me a ticket lol). I still own this Camaro, but she needs work and restoration.

Third Car: 1993 Buick Century. 3300 v6. This allowed me to park the Camaro during the winter. Terrific car, but sadly months later someone rear ended me and totaled this car.

Fourth Car: 1993 Pontiac Grand Am. Another 3300 v6. Replaced my 1993 Buick as a daily driver. Sadly, lost in an auto accident a couple years later.

Fifth Car: 1994 Pontiac Grand Am with a 3100 v6. I drove this car about 9 years. Some days I really miss this car. I put over 100k miles on it, was very reliable. I sold it with over 200k miles on it still running perfectly.

Sixth Car: 2004 Monte Carlo SS. Bought in late August of 2008 and still own it today. The 1994 Grand Am had 150K or more on it and I felt it was time to look for a new daily driver and this is what I got. I parked it winters, continuing to drive that Grand Am. The Monte NEVER became a daily and now will always be a summer only car.

Seventh Car: 2002 Pontiac Grand Am with a 3400 v6. This was bought to REALLY replace my 1994 Grand Am. had over 100k miles, bought cheap, needed a bit of work. Interior was pretty gross, but a friend of mine and I pulled and cleaned EVERYTHING. This car was great. Sadly lost in an auto accident a while later.

Eighth Car: 2004 Pontiac Grand Am with a 3400 v6. Bought this in 2014 and still have it today with over 223K miles on it. It had a salvage title when I bought it. It continues to be a great car, been a terrific daily. Sadly, lot of underside rot, clear coat on the hood and a fender is peeling. I have done a bunch of low budget mods, including self made strut braces. My step brother had a 2000 Grand Am and he got 257k miles on it when he traded it in. I am trying to beat that mileage lol.

Ninth Car: 2000 Monte Carlo SS. Mikes former Monte. I use it as a summer only car as well and slowly fixing different things on it that need attention. Great car, bought it mainly for the Novi Paxton in it. It has over 2000k on it when I got it.

Edit - added a few pics I could readily find.

Here's my chronological list of cars. This ignores the vehicles bought in later years specifically for my wife / that I never regularly drove. Some of these were owned concurrently, so she did drive many of these as her primary car also.

-96 Monte Carlo (still have)

-00 Impala 3800
-99 Grand Prix GTP

-03 Impala 3800
-98 Grand Prix GTP (swap car for the Monte, but I did buy the whole car)
-07 Grand Prix GXP - LS4

-01 Camaro 3800
-08 Impala 3500

-09 Corvette - LS3 (still have)

-05 GTO - LS2 (still have, current daily driver)

Other than that 08 Impala (maintenance mess and worse in just about every way from the previous gen), Id love to have any of the others back again today.

I am curious, given you've had so many absolute icons of Chevy's history - is there any one in particular that you'd love to have back in pristine condition today?

Even just to get to drive one around the block, Id be hard pressed to make a pick between the 55, the Impala, and that Chevelle.

The one thing you should know first is this kid is 74 years old and that is why I have had so many cars to drive and own.
This post was offline for a few days and I wasn't able to add any photo's or edit the post. So there are a few more That I have to add.

The 55 was a 4 door 6 banger with a power-glide. It got me around and helped me learn the way to drive. Soon after that one my Dad bought a 2dr Hrdtop the same color and all, 265 3 speed on the column it had some snap and he didn't want me to drive it to school. Getting a job during the 60's was tough for me and I would get some of the hardest ones and only last a few days. At one time my Dad owned a 1958 Chevy pickup and then he sold it and the guy he sold it to offered it back to him and he traded both 55 Chevy's for it this was in 67 and these cars were no more than 150.00 maybe 200.00.
The pickup offered me a job hauling stuff I kinda became a junk cleaner-upper guy. I started making some fairly good coins back then. Got enough to pay for the gas and my school stuff. and helped Dad clear up some small loans he had.

Then we moved to the Midwest and so did the 58 I drove it to college hear too. not to many hauling jobs around here back then. I had a fairly good part-time job while going to college and Dad had a lead on the 63 Impala He thought I needed a different car. I could have had a 62 Impala as well. the 63 was just a little bit sportier. The one pictured is not of my original but it was exactly like it Cragers and all. I think he bought it for 750.00 and I put the tires and wheels on it. drove it with Black wheels for sometime before I could afford the Crager ss wheels. I had the tire dealer put them on just on side instead of the front or rear. He was perplexed, but I told him now I have 2 cars.

I liked it but it was time to move on and keep up with my friends I found the 69 Chevelle and I had a cousin that taught me to speed shift it and it was a runner for sure do a little less that a 12 second quarter at around 125 mph. I met some nice bad girls with that car and what I new about cars and not about girls they were eager instructors fun stuff. good for some more stories.

1969 Chevelle SS That would be the one out of all of them I would like to have back again.

I've had a handful of cars and trucks over the years. I don't have pics of the old stuff but I do have some from about 1995 to now. Some of the weird ones I had was a TR7 Spyder, Opel GT and a Regal T-type. My first car was a Matador x-cop car with a divider between the front and back and you had to be let out of the back, no handles or locks in the back. I had a couple bugs, camaros, montes, regals, a cutlass, a rivvy, caprice, old full size ranger, 90s ranger. Probably 8 different trucks, B2400, 2 ZR2's, dakota, c10, 1500, F150, blazer, trailblazer, impala. Also about 20 motorcycles. This is really nostalgic, I wish I had pics of all these cars.

LOL I put the impala with trucks. My brain was going faster than that impala.

I forgot I also had an aries and a lebaron and 2 cavaliers.

It was a 396 375hp It had the chambered exhaust system from the factory. I had headers on it and we took Cheater slicks along tot he track about 3 of us guys shared them.

I recall this one time when this guy wanted to race, most likely a Friday night and he had a Chevelle like mine only a dark green. I was all by my self and we were on the highway south of town, nice level area and between 2 small bridges there was a nice quarter mile.
There were 4 people in the other Chevelle. So one got in with me and one stayed with him and the guys girlfriend was the flagger. She dropped the flag and I dumped the clutch to hard at 3grand and it twisted sideways. The guy riding with me was laughing about it, cause he had me by a 3/4 car off of the line. I got it straightened out and when I hit 2nd gear I was even with the other car. I hit 3rd and walked away from the guy it was geared perfect. We stopped south of there some and got out and the guy said its good we didn't bet more than a 12 pack on this. Now and then somebody new would show up in town and wanted to race.
I would get roadrunners, GTX's, 1970-454 Chevelles, GTO's and Camaro's too.
I got beat 2 times and both times it was a rolling start and the other car counted it off and they cheated on the count. But would never race me from a stand still.
Then I had some service work done at the Chevy garage and without asking they put a kit in the carburetor and screwed it up and could never get it fixed right again. I didn't know anyone that could fix it. Stupid me should have went and just bought a new Carb and let it go. a new Holley back then may have been less than $100.00.

I was talking with some guys from our local club the other day and we discussed, the Muscle cars the one thing that one of them brought up is the degree of difficulty on this type of run.
The Automatics you just sit there and let the car do the work foot in the Radiator and go.
With a manual Trans you can be your own worse enemy if you can't shift it or the linkage is off or the one thing I was taught to do is move the seat forward as far as you can. That may do more to keep you from missing a shift than anything.
So i practiced that a lot at 6ft 1in you can't drive it like your girlfriend would have the seat positioned very long.
This friend of mine that we always did all kinds of stuff together kept his Chevelle it was a 1970 Silver w/Black Stripes. When we went to Omaha, Ne and bought that car in 1970 he let me drive it home about 75 miles. I was always Honored that he asked me to do that. I recently asked him about that and he said that he was used to driving Automatics and I was the manual guy. But he said you don't remember the test drive? I was trying to recall but didn't, so he told me. We did the test drive and I was driving it, he was shotgun and the sales guy was in the back seat. He told me I pulled out on to the street and jumped on the gas and had the dancing sideways down the street. The guy was scared for sure! it was kinda rainy that afternoon so it was easy to drift the thing. This photo is just like the one he has.

It's too bad the autos have gotten so good lately. Between them and dual clutches, it seems like the fate of manuals is sealed in the fairly near future. Hate to see them continue to dwindle away like they have been. I love the engagement of having a manual in my daily driver GTO.

This photo is just like the one he has.
She's a beauty for sure! Definitely a bit jealous youve been able to drive so much awesome stuff through the years. So many of those cars have become unobtainable for a regular enthusiast these days - at least one that's not in need of a full ground up restoration.
