Default Hey Batmobile Fans

This morning at 5:00 AM, I was flipping through the channels and saw what looked like the original Batmobile in an old movie. It was painted red,and didn't have the Bat logos and gadgets.Checking the TV giude ,the movie was called"It Started With a Kiss",made in 1959.The Batman TV series wasn't out until 1966.The car in the movie WAS the Batmobile in its early life before it became the Batmobile. It was the Lincoln Futura concept show car, made in 1955.I found some photos and info on it.Check it out!!!!http://www.1966batmobile.com/background.htm

It is the very same car. It was built by Chuck Barris for the movie in about which starred Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford.

A few years later the car was re-made into the Batmobile for TV.

I have a 1960s article about the car that at one time is had a Hemi under the hood.

When I was in 4th grade I wentwith my friend and his dad to a Carl Casper'sshow to see the Batmobile. Not one single photo I took of the car turned out.

Oh, and with any of the TV Batmobiles now selling for over $1,000,000 an ex-girlfriend tried to give me a 2-door Lincoln like the one they made the Batmobile out of. I mean she tried to give it to me for free. I turned it down and the car was crushed. (oh the pain)

You can now buy fiberglass bodies of the TV Batmobile you add your own drive train, frame, wheel/tires, and interior. I think they sell for around $5,000?

Aruond 1970??? or so my dad took me to a custom car show at the Allentown PA. fairgrounds. The main feature there was the Batmobile.I remember the car being in pretty rough shape. It was sitting on a trailer in a back corner of the show.It was missing the windshield, seats were kind of ripped up,decals were half picked off, generally dirty and beat up.I know we took pictures of it,and right now I am in the process of cleaning out my parent's house to sell.If I find any photos,I will try to post them here.

One of the original Batmobiles is always on display every year at the Comic-Con. If anyone is in San Diego during late July and wants in to the show, I'd be more than happy to get them in.

Yes, it is in very beat up shape, but the one here is complete.

Some years after the show ended one was found in a salvage yard in just such a shape as the one you described.

A company called TYCO made a Batmobile for a slot car race set they sold. I've had it since I was in grade school. And CORGI made one that included a Batboat (+ trailor) you could hook to the back of the Batmobile.

I have no idea where my friend's motherfound them but one Christmas we bothgot a plastic Batmobile about 20" long. We took them to VA beach that summer with us on vacation. At this time his family and mine were vey good friends that we vacationed together. Wish I still had this but it was destroyed like so many childhood toys.
