was just here to relay info, not stir up more stuff, i was telling what i had been told which i can relate to and understand, 9 grand may be a little high but you have unions here and pensions and all those other uaw fees and everything else, where do you think the cost of all of that goes. like mad said it's not the foreign manufactuers fault they can get the same money for a simular car. and no there are no exercises and song singing before work around where i work. just a group of fair honest hard working people that help and support one another like a team and i am sure it would be the same if we sold nissans or yugo's or heck even refrigerators.

I can remember talking with co-workers back in the 1980s about how greedy the U.S. companies are versus the Japanese or Koreans. The U.S. manufacturers aren't satisfied with 30 or 35% profit. They want or wanted 50% of higher. So the foreign made stuff sold more of then the U.S. counterpart.

Anyone remember at one time if you said "Yep, I just got this new X and it was made in Japan." people laughed at you. Cause the Japanese stuff was considered cheap and of lower quality. I can recall telling guys I went to 2nd grade with I got a new toy and it was made in Japan. They laughed at me and said it was junk. This was what 1964 or about then.

Glad to see you back. I don't think its a problem with the manufacturers. It's a problem with AMERICANS. CEO's andtheir decisionsare driven by the need to increasestock prices, stock prices are driven by Americans. If GM comes out with a cheap, quality car, and it sells well, but their profits go down, guess what. The STOCKS go down.

I really think we should leave our jobs in America and Canada. How often do you call for support on a product, and end up talking to a forigner? I don't think it's a problem to import some small stuff. Stiffer taxes would fix that rather quickly tho.

Take the tax burden off the middle class, and put it on thecompanies sending cash overseas. If the middle class is less effected, they spend more. If there are less taxes on products that are made in the US, then the middle class spends more, strengthening the economy. TRIPLE FOLD! Why? because the strengthened economy is spending money on AMERICAN MADE products...

But, that's all I have to say about that. Jason, regardless if you agree or not, I'm glad ur back. I'm sorry if I missed your welcome thread, but that does NOT mean you are less welcomed by anyone here.

Not sure if you're talking to me Jason, not trying to be stupid here, but I remember reading that the Japanese actually DID have to do stretching exercises and sing songs prior to starting work, and not sure if they still do it or not, but I think WalMart employees have to sing songs and goofy stuff like that, too.

I know a few people that work at Wal-Mart. At the Wal-Mart's here, they have to do stuff like that every day for motivation or morale or some reason like that.

I know that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, to make ends meet. But personally, I wouldn't find that very motivating. I would find it demoralizing and humiliating. Reminds me of the morning exercises we used to do in third grade.

I'll bet they still do.

We just started a stretching exercise program at UPS.

Back in the 1980s my dad and several other people from the Dayton area including the president of the auto worker's union made a trip to Japan. They went for some time sharestudythey were doing. My dad said when he got back I'd fitright in, in Japan because of the amount of exercise I did. He said they promote employees exercising and a lotof workers do just thatat their lunch break. The Japanese said it reduced stress and lost work time from illness.
