Default have i got a story!!

well, imma put it simple: i got my nailhead! yay! it is out of a 66 riviara, has a 4bbl and a turbo 400 auto, all for $200! AWSOME!! the car was one out of about 400 up at rays cabin, of which i had mentioned a couple of times on here before....
i got a call from my dad, & he told me how he tracked it down he left work at around 4:00, and drove the 15 mins to where rays mountian is.... well, there was a crew working up there, who were unfortinitly busey running over all of the cars up there to load on a flatbed for scrap! yha, reallly sad only about 75-100 cars left.... anyways, my pop askes about the riv, & the guy says " well, the guy came & got it about 2 hours ago" aaaaaaaahhhhh !!! so, its now about 4:40, and my dad remembers that my friend had said that the scrapyard they had visited were supposed to be getting " about 400 cars for scrap that had been setting in the mountians outside of hackettstown..." so my dad took the drive over to the yard, which closes at 5:00, and made it there at, like 4:58, lol. luckely we know the guys who own & run the yard, they told us where the cars were being crushed... dad runs down, & the guy running the claw is just starting to reach for a 66 riv..... but dad got there in time! they shoved the riv off to the side, painted " dont crush!!!! on the side, and my dad is going down tomorrow for the engine & trans

i dont think i ever shared the pics from ray's, but i dont have time to copy & paste all the codes... however, i can link to the 3 pages of pics i put on photobucket they are not the best, i only got about 1/10 of the cars up there... i thought i would get back for some more.... guess not

jj, there was an AMC hornet up there for ya... and a TON of trucks.

how about this one? a compleate, MINT 68-72 suburbin (possibly an IH travelall, i cant remember) that sat directly in front of rays deleverance cabin...

or mabe a '70 roadrunner? there were 2 up there!

or how about this lil shortbed chevy pickup? factory 350 / 3 on the tree and yes, that is an NOS doorskin for a dodge charger sitting on the ground

Glad to hear you got the engine you were hunting for.

Sorry to hear all that American iron will be turned to scrap all so someone can make $1 and not have to bother having some poor soul come hunting for the part he needs to finish his restoration but could not locate anywhere in the U.S of A.

My girlfriend Debbie would kill to own one of these trucks. She loves them.

Sad to hear about the loss of the old iron, but I'm glad you was able to save at least something that was valuable to you.

yha, im friggin giddy over getting that nailhead, but at the same time it honestly feels like someone tore a hole in my concious knowing that they never even took the time to auction anything off.... even worse because i actually got to see everything up there, and beleive me, it was overwhelming to say the least. the pics i took are when i would stop, & basicly take a picture every direction surrounding me, to sort through later... i only got pics of mabe 1/4 of everything up there, from what i understand the corener went through 3 4gig camara chips before going to purchase a pack of disposible camaras to finish taking pictures of everthing with....

ray also had a ton of old vans, campers, and busses that were packed with lots of super rare car stuff mixed in with the junk, lots of compleate 9in rears, mounds of rare intakes & such... its a shame.

yha, i loved that lil blue chevy pickup, it was very solid for up here in the rust belt.... but to tell ya the truth, the travelall in front of his cabin was one of the most solid, straight vehicles up there.

i was joking with my dad that we shoulda told the state of NJ/ the lawyer handeling ray's affairs that we would go up and clean it all up.... for FREE, as long as we had a few years to take care of it, and we could keep whatever we wanted... then grab anything worth anything, keep what we could use & sold the rest on ebay heck, we would be loaded, lol. then scrap the rest of the compleatly usless stuff.... woulda taken longer, but woulda been much more financially rewarding to any and all party's involved
