GM effing with warrantys - setting a very bad example
So now it appears that GM is contesting a case where a woman is sue and setting a class-action case for defective Impalla's.
GM is claiming that they are not responsible for repairs to vehicles made prior to its government bailout/bankruptcy as it is now a new corporate entity.
How is that for getting %#$@#
I guess its going to be buyer beware on GM products for me at least, if this is how they are going to conduct its business with its customers and especially how they handle defective items in their products.

GM is claiming that they are not responsible for repairs to vehicles made prior to its government bailout/bankruptcy as it is now a new corporate entity.
Seeking class-action status and alleging breach of warranty, the lawsuit demands that GM fix the rods, saying that it had done so on Impala police vehicles.
But in a recent filing with the U.S. District Court in Detroit, GM noted that the cars were made by its predecessor General Motors Corp, now called Motors Liquidation Co or "Old GM," before its 2009 bankruptcy and federal bailout.
The current company, called "New GM," said it did not assume responsibility under the reorganization to fix the Impala problem, but only to make repairs "subject to conditions and limitations" in express written warranties. In essence, the automaker said, Trusky sued the wrong entity.
"New GM's warranty obligations for vehicles sold by Old GM are limited to the express terms and conditions in the Old GM written warranties on a going-forward basis," wrote Benjamin Jeffers, a lawyer for GM. "New GM did not assume responsibility for Old GM's design choices, conduct, or alleged breaches of liability under the warranty."

Hi David,
A informative & sad post 4-Sure, but it's one of the many problems in our country today No one seems to be responsible for their bad acts...Not just GM, but many corporations & our US Government...
"We the people, must act if we want change for the better"
We can no longer sit back & be programed by our TV's
It will only change 4 the better `if we the people get involved.
Ask yourself (?), what are you doing to make it better ?
David, thanks for sharing...Do you have a Impala ?

We have 4 GM's, and there will never be another GM product in this household. LadyT has been looking at Honda Civics, cuz I've made several of the interior components, mainly steering wheel pieces, like the back covers. Pretty much all of GM's tooling is made in China and then brought over and de-bugged here. That's what tool shops do that still do GM work. It's all junk tooling.
