Oh no. I think it's time to start a thread concerning compression ratios and additives in gasoline.
The basic gist is.... the higher the octane rating, the more additives in the gasoline, the harder it is to combust. Therefore, high octane gas is only needed for engines with high compression ratios, engines that would otherwise prematurely detonate with lower octanes due to the intense compression. Concordantly, using additive rich gasoline in an engine with an average compression ratio...like a Monte Carlo...can actually cause more harm than good because of all the excess crap it leaves in your engine. And, any "power gain" you think you're getting is more than likely in your head otherwise completely negligible, because without that high compression to burn away all those extra additives, there's no difference in power output.

$2.63 for Regular, and $2.89 for Premium....

Also, SoCalss the 06-07 Monte Carlo SS requires Premium fuel right from the factory! The V6 versions only require Regular though. Just so you know in case you ever get the V8 SS!

Don't the 06-07 SS require the middle grade out of the factory? I don't think they NEED to be running 93 octane.

And in Philadelphia it is 2.399 for regular

I'm just angry because a few months ago I heard gas price forecasters people saying they WANT the gas to be back to 2.50/gal by this summer, so I know it's not even a supply / demand issue... they are just making money.

Thats because they are all a bunch of greedy F***ers! It irritates me too!

The SS that I looked at when I cought my car required Premium Unleaded fuel only! Your premium out there is 93 octane? Ours is 91 octane...Go figure, we pay more, and get less! Damn California! I love this place, and hate it sometimes...registration just went up 53% this year due to the new state budget too! I had to pay $293 to register my Monte, and thats just ONE year!

We went from $2.18/gal for the low grade stuff to $2.45/gal.

All it is is greed.

all i know is its a helluva lot cheeper to tank up the monte w/ its 3.1 than my old 84 olds wagon, with its
305, carb issues, & 4500-5000 lb curb weight, and the monte can drive twice as far on a tankfull
