If anything we need to drive more cuz driving less means they won't be selling much so they'll raise the prices to make up for loss profits which is what there doing now, we're using less fuel now than we were this time last year

& it cost me 3.69 to fill up

$3.71 here. I cant imagine paying $4.00+ but you gotta do what you gotta do... Sad to say but they are raping us. $2.00 a gallon sounds very nice, I could miss work and easily take a good vacation. Everyday I put in $20 for work so I use $80 in 4 days and its like im going to work to pay bills and for gas, no extra money...

There are a lot of politics that go with gas prices.

Did you know we export more oil than we import? It makes oil companies more money that way. We are just at the mercy of trading and these companies.

I paid 3.99/gal my last fill up.

Consumers will never be able to "force" the gas stations back down to any price. The oil industry is the most corrupt, legal, industry in the world. Because OPEC sets the price of a barrel of oil. And OPEC is made up of countries that produce the oil. They are their own regulator. So it makes sense for them to raise the price. The higher the price, the more money they make. It's like politicians voting themselves a raise.

Not sure how the U.S. works the tax on gas. But here in Canada, the price of gas includes various taxes set by the government. The higher the price of gas is, the more taxes the government gets. Every once in a while politicians make a half-hearted attempt at being outraged over the price of gas. But only because they have to in order to get re-elected.

And you can forget about the boycotts you get by email occasionally. Boycotting a particular gas station doesn't work. Especially if it's part of a chain like Sunoco or Shell.

The oil industry knows full well that they have something we all need. And we can't all hold out forever. Eventually you're gonna have to fill up your tank with gas unless you start riding a bicycle everywhere.

Edit: If anyone is interested, the price of gas here in Windsor, Ontario, Canada is $1.31 per litre for regular 87 octane. I don't know the exact math right now. But that's well over $4 per gallon.

Regular is 4.25, Premium 4.59. I filled up the Monte on Premium and it cost me $81.00 to fill my totally empty tank.
