CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida -- The launch of a U.S. Air Force global positioning satellite aboard a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 401 rocket is scheduled for 11:23 p.m. EDT on Friday, August 1, 2014 with an 18-minute launch window.

The Atlas V rocket will carry the GPS IIF-7 satellite into space from Space Launch Complex-41 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
According to the latest weather forecast from the USAF 45th Weather Squadron, there is a 80% percent chance overall of acceptable weather conditions at launch time. The primary weather concerns for launch are anvil clouds, cumulus clouds, and thick clouds.
GPS IIF-7 is one of the next-generation GPS military satellites. The GPS IIF-7 mission will be the ninth of 15 planned missions ULA is slated to launch in 2014, and ULA's 86th since the company formed in 2006.
