found another old car in the woods... pics!
this is what i was up to last sunday, trying to find this car my co-worker told me about where he hunts, which happens to be just up the road from me. unfortinitly he's a bit directionaly challanged, so the directions i got where "going up the mountian from route 209 there's a real nasty curve and then a dirt pulloff, park there then walk into the woods across the road , its a dark colored car in a stand of pine trees..." which qualifys as every road up the mountian fron route 209, and the whole aerea is a stand of pines! BUT after walking up the entire mountian side off of 4 differant roads we FOUND IT!
its a '55 or a '56 mercury 2 door sedan, which is neat because most were 2 door hardtops or 4 doors... the engine, trans and rear are all still there, as well as the hulk of the body... but not much else! it's been there scince probibly the mid '60's from as far as i can tell from how the vegitation has grown up, barely a hint of a trail leading up to it. i guess others have found it before us though because the ENTIRE car has been autographed by various hikers and hunters... keep in mind the pocono enviromental education center has a trail not 10 yards away from the car!
enjoy!
lol my dad wanted a pic of him "driving"
the guy who told me about the car is nicknamed "gus"
and while im at it, a pic of the truck where we parked, with my new tires

Cool pics indeed....I still find it heart breaking that cars whined up in this state...but very cool to find indeed...
I wonder if the car was in decent shape and someone wanted to restore it, what would the process be? Just take it and try to register it,no need to find previous owner or call the police or something...just a curious thought, even though this one is far to gone to do any type of restore.
Thanks for posting the great pics!
Joe

...Hi `Ryan, another great thread & super pictures.
If only that old Mercury could talk and tell us it's history...
Your truck looks great with it's new threads : ) How do they grip in the mountains ?
Thanks for sharing....I would love to be able to search your mountains for relic's of automotive history....
