Not much number crunching:


EPA mpg city/highway (gasoline): 21/31
EPA mpg city/highway (E85 ethanol): 16/23

200 miles of city driving = 9.5 gallons regular
200 miles of city driving = 12.5 gallons e85

That is $37.53 using regular gas and $42.75 using e85.

That's with city MPG which is closer than Highway, so your highway prices would be even worse.

Clearly regular fuel is just better. :P

indeed, when i crunched the numbers on savings i would get on a typical fill up. Usually around 10 gallons, you'd only save $5.xx Not really worth the time like you said, and in the end you'll come out behind

Well considering I get regular for 3.99 and e85 for 2.95 I save around $1 per fill up and the station is on my way to work. So it might be beneficial for me after all.
