JC. I hate to tell you, but Rainier still rumbles a little. They have Lahar warning sirens and drills on a regular basis in Orting. If she blows, hope your already a few hundred miles north. I was in Pullman (Eastern WA) when St. Helens blew and it, just ahead of the Nisqually earthquake in 1990, was the weirdest experience in my life. 800 miles across the state from the volcano it was pitch black at noon from ash fall eventually 12" deep.

Hay Bob, yeah I know it Rumbles, and they watch it on a daily. It's on a 600 year cycle and it is overdue by about 40 or 50 years. With my luck it'll blow and I will get sucked into a sink whole or something! BUT Boy THAT Would Be An Amazing Sight to see. Guess I just won't be able to post those pics on FB?

I take it being ex-Navy you have a boat (not a submarine, the only boat in the Navy) but a civilian one close by if she pops and the freeways are at a stand still...

Hey JC. Sounds like you've either done your research or have spent some time here before. In any case, welcome! The Puget Sound area and Washington in general has a lot to offer. That transformer mod will come in handy when checking out the mountains, ocean, and desert all within an hour flight. LOL Not to mention Pacific Raceway within a half hour drive from you.

Tyler, I've seen 3 other Yellow MC SS since I've been here. One I've seen 3 times but we were always going in opposite directions. Other than that, I've seen at least 2 Montes per day. There are a lot of them out here.
Bob, I, like you, have seen the passing of many Full Moons. I watch a lot of Discovery Channel. The did a documentary on Mount St. Helen. And in that they talked about Mt. Rainier and how it was the next American Volcano expected to Blow it's top! I just have very good recall for trivial stuff like that. Plus I'm into Disaster and Sci-fi. So when I here thing about Rainier, Helen or Yellowstone, they stick in my Idd! So what should I be searching out. I've only been as far as Queen Ann, and Muckleshoot! I've Seen the sound but not the Pasific. Yet! I wanna go to Vancouver and Whale Watching. The Mrs. Knows a few good places to go. I want to go back out to the Bad Lands. With a Real Camera!
All after my trip to Prueto Rico on the 30th. My Baby Sister is getting Married and I, being the Eldest Male of the family, is responsible to give the Bride away! I also want to go out to Hawaii and up to Alaska. Maybe even take a trip to Sydney. So many places to go from the West Coast.

Well JC, it all depends on your mood and what you like. Vancouver is nice, but a bit busy for me. Definitely worth going at least once though. Or you might like Victoria B.C., with it's old English theme, a 1 hour ride on the Victoria Clipper hydroplane ferry. I prefer the San Juan Islands for a romantic get away, Orcas Island or Friday Harbor. You can take whale watching tours from there too. As for the Pacific Ocean, the Washington beaches are mostly rocky, but beautiful in there own respect, lots of sea life. Ocean shores does have sandy beaches and a casino. Kalaloch or Lake Quinault resorts are along the North coast as well as Sol Duc hot springs. The Oregon beaches at Seaside or Cannon Beach are more like sandy California beaches. Plenty of Salmon, Halibut or bottom fishing charters anywhere along the Washington coast. Thousands of hiking trails in the Cascades. The Columbia river passes through the volcanic Basalt laden desert of Central Washington, where you passed through Vantage as you came over I-90. In downtown Seattle, check out Pike Place market, and the Belltown area for restaurants and nightlife, Seattle Center and the Space Needle for the kids. Pretty cool laser show there too. I saw in an earlier post you play bass so you must like music. Chateau St. Michelle winery in in Woodinville has summer concert tours. Also outdoor concerts at the White river amphitheater in Auburn, and The Gorge amphitheater in George, near Vantage is mostly for the younger crowd. Let me know if you want to know more. I'm a life long Washington resident and have been in the Puget Sound area since 1985.

Bob, Sounds like you've been in the Puget Sound area all your life! I've heard of some of these places. I'm not a Fishing Man, due to a few Casting incedences when I was much younger.
I would like to see the Rock Beaches though. I get into the "How the Earth Formed" thing.
