Empty Nest

My 20 year old Step-son (hate that term) My 20 year old son informed us yesterday that he has signed a lease with a buddie for a 2 bedroom apartment. Well he is moving out tomorrow. I arranged some time off with my boss to get a U-haul for the boys to get them into their new bachelor pad. This had been an on-going discussion for some time now so not a total surprise out of the blue.

Ronda had already made plans for his room (Guest room / Craft room).

So will be busy tomorrow helping the boys move and have 1 meeting for work I couldn't get out of but that is just a phone meeting.

Mixed emotions Zach and I have had our ups and downs (Step fathers are not always popular) I know it is a natural progression but things will be different now for Ronda and I (both sad and glad)

Tadd I understand what you are saying. I was there for a short time. This is also a difficult time in a marriage too. In many cases you become parents and forget that you used to be lovers and great friends before the kids came along. Make sure that you continue to build your relationship with Rhonda. The dynamic of your relationship is about to change and you will need to fight to keep it new and exciting.

For many reasons I didn't do that and I am starting over. I still have mixed feelings over it because it means I failed one relationship and started another. I won't be an empty nester again for at least 18 years.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Gregg appreciate that. Ya Ronda and I talked about how our relationship will move on to the next step in life. We will have more time alone together to share. It is a door opening for us into a new dimension of our relationship.

Tadd that is cool that you get to work on Sally and make her super fine. I guess Rhonda is into cars too? Makes it fun when you can share a hobby.

To a point... she will go to car shows with me and she is going to the Monte Nationals with me in TN. But she keeps a tight hold of the purse strings..Which is good because I am not good with saving money :o

It is good she is good with the money. I'm not good either and neither is Susan. I've got to get better if I ever want to retire.

Oh man I want to retire sooo bad I can taste it 4 or 5 years more to go. Ronda can retire in about a year and a half or earlier if the Post office offers an early out this year. She is younger than me but has been with the post office for 32 years now (Since High school)

I'm still in for the long haul. I don't think I will retire before the girls finish school some I'm looking at probably twenty years. If I don't start saving for it, it won't happen then. Susan is fifteen years younger than me so that will factor in too. If I am successful in my run for the white house then I won't have to worry about retirement. I'm not going to put all my eggs in that basket though.
