If the Part number is correct, the price + shipping is good and the seller has good feedback (98% to 100%) I don't see why not for a new part, if it's easier for you.

But is that the shifter from the 2000 pace car Monte? Or just a stock shift **** that someone covered in red leather?

It took me a minute to figure out you were talking NOS as in "New Old Stock". And not Nos, nitrous oxide.
Looking at the close up pictures. It looks like all GM did was wrap some red leather around a stock Monte shift ****. Knowing that, I'm thinking of maybe checking around some upholstery shops and see if they can give me a price on wrapping my shift **** in red leather. I want to start two toning the interior of my Monte. The all black/charcoal interior is too boring.
