Default DRL's, what's your take on em?

How do you feel about the claim of DRL's being a "safety feature"? Personally, I think it's a joke but I'd like to hear your opinions on them, maybe I'll look at them differently.

I would agree with you... They are a joke IMO..

There has been quite a bit of debate on this subject and I am sure someone made a killing on the idea of DLR's. Does it really hurt? I don't think so. Are they horrid to look at? IMO yes.

Do I think they are the safety feature they are made out to be? Not by a longshot. Do I think they have no place in the market, nah, wouldn't say that. But I do think the driver should have the ability to override them if he so chooses. That is my only issue with them. I am a responsible driver and should be able to control this feature. I guess they won't really be that big of a deal to me now that I am getting some Luminics JDM yellow 9005's and won't be putting in my 12's since the stock system sounds so damn lovely.

I think we should be allowed to make that choice. Or at least give us a way to disable the darn things. This is the first car with DLR's that does not have an easy way to turn them off.

That's because GM is the company pulling so hard to get them mandated, they feel really strongly about them for some reason and don't want them easily bypassed.

if i am not mistaken, grayhound started this back in the 70's i was a driver then and they would run the headlights 24/7 and put and bumper sticker on the back of the bus that said "lights on for safty"

I can't comment on that cause I don't know who/what/where/when/how DRL's came to be, but that isn't the issue here. I just wanted to know everyone's standing on the claim that DRL's are a "safety" feature
