Default drag racers help

My friend recently started drag racing and hates all the rubber that ends up on his truck. so he was wondering if there is anything he could stick on the bottom of the box to keep some of it off the paint. It might just be something he has to deal with. I don't know much anything drag related so i figured i would ask you guys/girls.

thanks

zach

I recommend using clear plastic wrap like GLAD ClingWrap or something like that. You can barely tell it's on the truck and it's easy to take off.

What, thats his trucks Badge of Honor, all the tire shreds and track prep. LOL

That stuff can be a real pain to get off so I know what he is concerned about. I used 2.5 cans of Bug and Tar remover about 3 weeks ago to clean my Monte's finish of all this debris.

What I saw from some of the cars and trucks at the track were essentially aluminum panels some possibly temporarily attached to the underside just behind the rear wheels and extending past the wheel well about 4 inches. I asked what that metal panel was for and another racer told me to catch all the rubber and track compounds to help keep the car cleaner. The panel on the car I looked at was about 16" wide. Hope this helps. Others who race more often than I might know better tricks of the trade.

I think this might be a good question for Brittany. Hopefully she'll see this thread when she logs in.

Just off the top of my head... What about Pam cooking spray?

I know a lot of my friends use the blue tape on certain areas of there car to prevent dings and scratches from rocks kicking up on there car on long trips, not sure how it would stand up to a barrage of tire kicking up on it though...may be worth a shot...

thanks guys...we were thinkin of using plastic wrap but werent sure how that would stand up. It took me about 30 min clean all the rubber off his truck from the last time he went so its not terrible. just would like to prevent it towards the bottom where it gets really bad
