Do Great Minds Think Alike?
I notice through our political threads that there is a recurring theme: several of our members and Monte Carlo owners are quite libertarian in their political beliefs. Is it a coincidence? Or do great minds, those of the libertarian, truly think alike and see the glory and honor of driving a Monte Carlo? I'm telling you, this is quite ironic. Maybe your car says more about you than you truly know....

"Maybe your car says more about you than you truly know..."
I firmly believe this to be true, although Idon't view driving a Monte as an "honor". I suppose what my car says about me is that I'm not going to let government, or theoil companies dictate what kind of car I choose to drive. The condition of my carmakes it clear that I value my private property, and that I take care of my stuff.
A surprising number of people today view cars as nothing more than tools to get them from point "A" to point "B", and haveno moreemotional attachment to their rides than they have to a pair of pliers or a screwdriver. You can usually spot these people by the condition of their cars- they've probably never been waxed, and the interior looks something akin to the inside of a dumpster. Many of these folks don't even look at their cars as being their own personsal property, but ratherpieces of equipment that theyrent fromthe banksters for a few years.
I've never been able to figure out why,butwell-to-do people who hold Leftists political views seem to be attracted by certainmakes - Volvo andSAABin particular, and VW to a lesser extent.

Car Color
Psychiatrists analyzed the favorite car color of more than 1000 motorists to determine how it reveals personality. Here's what the study reveals about YOU. [ul][*]Brown: The choice of a cautious, conservative, often introverted personality likely to drive the good bargain. [*]White: It's the choice of a neat, compulsive motorist who can be both critical as well as fussy. The first choice of doctors - and drivers who are reliable, aloof and very methodical. [*]Blue: You like consistency in your life. You're likely to be conservative, shy, and introverted. A team player who's sociable and friendly but lacking in imagination. [*]Green: A hot fashion color that puts an emphasis on the environment, but the deeper the green, the more conservative and traditional person you are. [*]Teals: The choice of a trend-setting extrovert who craves attention and desires admiration. [*]Neutrals: The colors of non-commitment and chosen by someone who doesn't want to be conspicuous or stand out from the crowd. [*]Grey: Expresses understated good taste and indicates a safe and cautious driver. [*]Metallics: Chosen by confidant yet understated extroverts. [*]Silver: You have great style and are often successful - but you tend to be pompous. [*]Black: The choice of a serious, self-confident sophisticate. First choice of the ambitious and success-driven who see cars as status symbols. [*]Yellow: The hue for active, artistic people and the individual willing to try something new. [*]RED: You're outgoing and impulsive, but easily bored. On the bright side, you think and stay young. [/ul]

Cars speak a great deal about their drivers. By looking at your car, one could guess everything from whether or not you have kids to whether you ski. Two door cars suggest a young driver, or a midlife crisis on wheels. Four doors suggest a practical person, perhaps with children. A car seat or two in the back definitely says children! A clean car means the driver is most likely neat with the rest of her life. And this is all before analyzing your bumper stickers and personalized plates!
[ul][*]Acura Integra: I have always wanted to own the Buick of Japanese sport sedans [*]AMG Hummer: I have a daughter named Bitsy and a son named Cole [/ul]

I don't know if it shows your political views unless you got a "Reagan/Bush '84" bumper sticker. You can a lot of times tell whether the person is working class, upper class, you get the idea. Chances are your Fortune 500 types aren't going to be driving a Chevy Cobalt. Trucks are hard to tell now. Driving a p/u truck used to mean you were working class usually construction, trade, or farming. But now since trucks have become as luxurious and as expensive as a luxury car, even corporate execs are driving trucks now.
As for color, I'm kinda curious as to the popularity of colors in different areas of the US and Canada. Is one color more popular on the west coast, east coast, warmer states, the colder parts of Canada, etc.
Around here in the Detroit/Windsor area silver and gray are probably the most popular, with white being a close second.

RE: Do Great Minds Think Alike?
I never considered my car as being an extension of my political views. But I guess anything's possible?
I'm not a white car person, but most of them have white on them either inside or out.
White: It's the choice of a neat, compulsive motorist who can be both critical as well as fussy. The first choice of doctors - and drivers who are reliable, aloof and very methodical.
Silver: You have great style and are often successful - but you tend to be pompous.

"Four doors suggest a practical person, perhaps with children."
So Space...does thisopinionsuggest that those who prefer coupes are impractical. [:-] Sounds like the opinion of one who views cars as nothing more than tools of transportation, if you ask me. What's"practical" about a Corvette, my friend?
And what exactly do we mean by "practical"? Useful?? Usefulfor what purpose? I didn't buy my SS with the intention of using itto haul around four or five people. When I bought my 97 Lincoln Mark VIII, I also had no intention of using it at a people-hauler, for it would have indeed been impractical for that purpose. In fact, when I traded it in May of 2005, no passenger had ever sat inits back seat - ever. The same can be said for several coupes I have owned over the years.
Cars are nothing more thanimplements to many, Space. However, to us gearheads they are much more than justa"tool" that falls withinsomeone's definition of being "practical".
