Detroit gets new police cars with new graphics
Take a look at the new police cars just delivered to the city of Detroit. Roger Penske paid for a number of new police cars and ambulances. But the police cars really stand out now with a picture of the Detroit skyline on the sides and the hood.
And no, these are not for a movie or anything. These are the real deal, new design. Which is tons better than the old ones.

Here's the old police car they're replacing...

So what do you think of them?
I like them actually. They definitely stand out more.

It's Roger Penske, Mike. Penske has a history with Detroit. He's made donations similar to this before.
The initial roll out was 15 new police cars, with about 90 more to come in the near future I believe. It would be cool if they got some 2014 Impalas. Those would look bad ***!

Mayor Dave Bing said the business community does not always get credit for the things it does.
He said the city did not have the funds to buy or lease new vehicles, so he and others told business leaders about the city’s vehicle needs earlier this year and the business community stepped up.
But Bing noted that the city would have to do a better job of raising revenue for its service needs in the future.
“It is not the business community’s responsibility to fund everything in Detroit,” he said.
Bing has previously said the vehicles would not be city property but that a nonprofit corporation would be set up to lease them. Bing offered a public thank-you to Penske Corp., Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Quicken Loans, the Kresge Foundation, Platinum Equity and Shinola.

Well, as you may know, the city of Detroit declared bankruptcy last month. So this arrangement was necessary if they planned on replacing the old worn out equipment. Don't forget, there's new ambulances involved too. If I need an ambulance, I sure as hell want one that won't break down on me on the way to the hospital. If that means a lease deal, then go ahead and lease them.
Besides. It means there's a chance to get a used police car after the lease is up.
