Got my car back a few days ago from the shop. Seems I was paid a visit by some local vandals overnight November 18th. They apparently were trying to get into the car to steal something I had left in the front of the console. They tried to pry the passenger door open with a crowbar, damaging the door and rear quarter. When they couldn't get in, they got frustrated and smashed the windshield with a cement block and ran off, damaging the front fender in the process. I had to have the entire right side of the car repainted. I had the shop that painted the whole car do the work. My car has had a helluva year.....But, all is good now. She's back to top condition. Luckily, nothing with the hand-painted stripes was damaged.
Here's a tip.....don't leave your gun in the car....duh...

Good morning guys. Can't believe it's December already. We've had some scattered snow showers the past couple days, more today. We've been in the 30s lately but highs appear to be in the 40s and 50s looking ahead the next couple weeks.
About to hit 56k miles on the Malibu. Got new wheels on it a couple weeks ago - 19x8.5 TSW Bristols in matte black and new black lugs. I never really intended to do anything to this car but the wheels now have me thinking about window tint (plan to in the spring) and possibly going red with the brake calipers and brackets for a little 'pop' through the black.

Geez, can't have anything nice. Sounds like the shop did a nice job for you. Glad you're past that one now.

Why black? I really don't get this whole black wheel craze that's swept the entire automotive world.
Why make the wheel blend in with the tire? Do people want to hide their wheels? Is it some "stealth" thing?
No offense, Matt; it's something I'd never go for myself.
I guess it depends on the vehicle... I wouldn't want black wheels on my MCSS, but I have them on my Silverado and absolutely LOVE the look... to each his own, I guess.

Great looking truck , the Red line was my second option. Im so happy with my Centennial Edition and the power of the 6.2 liter.

Thanks! I knew I'd buy a Redline in black all along... I had four boxes to check off... 2018 (didn't like the redesign), LTZ, Redline, black... Local dealership only ever had a white one. The silver and white ones just didn't look right with the black grille. It looked like you had an unpainted piece on the truck... On the black ones, it looks like it belongs there... I didn't need the extra horsepower, so I got the 5.3L. By the time I actually bought it, I couldn't find any 6.2L trucks, anyway...
Wow thats a cool truck. We were looking at a new Blazer and Equinox that had that package. But for the Extra $ we were not going to do it.

This year I saw a lot of cars with the Black wheels on them at Car shows and then the ones that just showed up to look. Might be a little bit of a Euro look maybe, that drifted into the market. The one thing that clearly needs to be done is keeping them clean, when they are dirty they look terrible. So does the Black Car. I spend a ton of time keeping the Black car clean.
I think they look good on select cars my son is a big fan and so is my grandson who is really into cars as a 7th grader he can pick them all out.
Now as for me............ Back in the 60's if you couldn't aford mag wheels you took the Hub Caps off and painted the wheels black and ran them that way (so on a 55 Chevy your wheels were usually the color of the car) So they became the Poor Mans mag wheel back then. So now when I see them on a car that shouldn't have them on. I recall that term from the 60's.
The modern ones are usually powder coated and spokes makes them look unique, but at first glance I refer back to those old time memories.

None taken, I know the look isn't for everyone but it's in one word - different. That's ultimately why I went that route. Trust me, I never thought about going black either but the situation came up and, in the end, I love the look. I prefer a clean, simple design when it comes to wheels - I looked at some options that were your standard polished finish, some of which were pretty close to the factory wheel design and at that point I might as well have stayed with the factory wheels. The thing I don't care for with black wheels is when they have regular polished lugs and/or center cap - I believe if you're going to have a black wheel it should have black lugs which is what I requested and I'm glad I did. And, as Dean pointed out, the only downside to the black is they do show the dirt a lot more when dirty. And, like I said, I'd like to paint the brake calipers red to give it some pop.
