Dangerous PM's with spam
FIRST off, I want to apologize to ALL of our MCF family that is getting hit with PM spam. We have at LEAST 2 new members with multiple identities that are sending members PM's with links to their web sites, saying they have found problems with our computers by doing searches on the internet. Right now they are a German and a Dutch.
PLEASE do NOT go to their web sites, and PLEASE do NOT confirm that you are reading their PM's.
I am posting this temporarily as a thread, but they are moving fast, and I can't be here all day, as most of us can't be.
Just BE CAREFUL! I don't want anyone to have their computers infected by European virus's!

If you receive a message or PM from anyone claiming to be an admin or moderator, make sure it is from one of the usernames listed above. Be sure to check spelling, capitalization of letters, spaces between letters, any underscores, etc. If the name does not match EXACTLY, let one of us know and we'll assist you in finding out if it's legit.
Thanks!
Lou.

This is a new one for me. I've dealt with quite a few things since I've been a moderator. We're doing all we can to keep our MCF family SAFE, yet with as few restrictions as possible. From what I have seen so far this is someone from Germany and someone from Holland.
ANY message you receive like the one RJ posted, PLEASE delete it, but do NOT acknowledge the receipt of the e-mail. Not sure what that would lead to. Nothing as far as I know. We just don't need to go there.
I'll delete this thread as soon as I believe we are safe.

Guys,
Do you use a Captcha for new users registering?
How about an account-activation email requirement?
Not sure where this forum is hosted or how, but you may want to drop all network traffic from certain countries- not sure how many folks in Europe or Asia want to visit a forum dedicated to the Monte Carlo anyway- I work in information/network security, and this is a GREAT way to cut down on all of the crap.
