i dont watch indy car but it is sad to hear stories like this.

I don't mean to be funny when I say this, but how safe can a 220 mph canoe be? That's basically what you're in. I just hope that some day, some better safety innovations can come along to protect drivers in those cars. Those cars are just too dangerous for my tastes. Even early stock cars had metal and roll cages... on those cars, you don't have anything between you and a disaster.

It is a big loss. He was the Indy 500 winner this year, had only run a couple of races... won the Indy championship once. He had a 3 year old and and a 7 month old child too. He was really living the life. I think Indy did the right thing to call the race.

that is very true coyboy. they are taking a huge risk getting in those things. but its sad to hear about his family with the little kids.

Never followed indy car racing, but still a terrible thing to read, i think indy car realy need to look into some safety options like nascar has.

very sad indeed, his family is in my prayers.

i'm still curious as to where he was in the crash, i thought he was the car that flew through the air but that wasn't his number
