I for one feel that Union's had it's place in the workplace in it's conception, however, I feel as if they are and have been linked to the death of many companies and are the direct reason we can not compete in the world market place today. Yes, I think everyone should make as much money as they can but also feel that the market should set wages.
nj85z28 please don't take this personally but I feel that if I were not happy with the wage I was offered at the company I am wth I would find other employment offering what I feel I am worth. Not happy with management, treatment, conditions get out and find another job. There are many other organizations and laws out there protecting us from employer abuse. Again, not directed at you NJ85Z28 just my feeling towards Unions...

the whole point of unionism is fair pay for fair work. 8 for 8. Also, to protect benefits and such of employees. the problem is that once an agreement is made, it is made. there will be no strike agaisnt GM because it would just make the members and their union look bad. when labor agreements are made, they are good for a few years. for examply, the IBEW contracts between them and NECA are usually good for 4 years. anytime during that time striking is not allowed, unless necessary with the approval of the IO (international office), which rarely takes place in this situation

I know how unions work, and i also know that the most recent labor agreement expired 9.20.05, so much for your "wildcat strike" theory. The labor is doing nothing wrong except for going to bat for their members, which is exactly what they're there for. It's GM that's being difficult in the situation and forcing the issue by breaking the pattern that has been in place for nearly 2 decades.
