So recently zippy asked about the situations and enjoyed the stories. So if you all are willing I will post a few installments, and share them with you all I will provide photo's as often as possible. Some of this Sh*t you just can't make up. It is real life and it happened. You need to be a good sport. In all the incidents where someone has made a reference about the resemblance or asked to a photo with me, If I had $5.00 for every time I could sponsor the car for several seasons racing on the Cup circuit.

You have had some pretty cool memorable times being such a close resemblance to Sr. Always fun to read your stories, makes me chuckle at the situations you get into.
So Story Number 1 is in the next Frame with photo's. Of me and Dale

 

It was 1995 or 96 when I met this lady and her husband who owned a Nascar type collectables store.
Of course everyone in the place could see the resemblance and I stopped several times per month and got acquainted with the owners, lady who ran it, her husband, Father and 2 kids.
They would always compare the photo's of the real Dale and me. So one day she asked me if I would be able to meet this lady and her family who had been a foster family of hers when her mother was ill and passed.
She indicated she was a Dale Fan and told me she was a bad diabetic and had lost her legs from the knees down.
So I agreed and she took me over to her house and met the lady, her family,daughters, grand kids everyone in the neighborhood.
Took pics with everyone and it was crazy stuff. The lady I went to visit, her name was JoAnn.
So all these folks smoked and I no longer do so I was really having problems keeping fresh air in.
I was about to leave and she stopped me at the door told me how wonderful it was that I had stopped to see her and that she never probably would get to meet Dale Earnhardt in person, that if he was half as nice as I was that would be great.
Well she had me tearing up on the way out, when I got home the wife thought I had been in a Bar for most of the day?
I had told her how bad I felt that she had lost her legs and she said well it could always be worse, wow what an attitude, she explained why, and that was a little bit life changing to hear that reasoning.

After a few days I sent a letter to the Talladega speedway cause JoAnn had indicated she was going to try to get there in the fall race that year. I gave them her name and address and phone number and told them about her situation and maybe they could see if she could meet the real Dale. I never mentioned anything about me, that I looked like Dale or anything.
She got a call and she did get to go, and she took a bunch of stuff with her. She did get to meet the real Dale.
Then when she returned she told me about this meeting. She got a bunch of stuff Autographed and she showed him the pictures of me. She also gave me photo's of this meeting too. That was really great for her.
Granted I had met him years before this.
" She said when she showed him the photo's he said that looks like me but I don't remember being there" ha..
In one of these photo's you can see Dale looking at photographs she told me that she had showed him. You can see also where he had his traditional blue sharpie pen out and had signed her collectables, one was a jacket. The photo enlarged here is Dale looking at the photo's.

 

Man your a real stand up human being, I mean there are many people who walk the face of the Earth and it's easy to get numb with life. A friendship with the store owners turned into giving the foster parents a sunny spot for a day. And you could have left it at that, yet you facilitated an actual meeting with DE Sr.. It totally magnified your already complimented niceness to the store owners, the foster family members and most importantly to the lady, who had a great reason to be depressed. You may have done more for her mental health than one could ever know. Thanks for such a wonderful story. And Mr. DE Sr. had to have been quite a person himself to make time for this individual who he knew nothing about. You men were more of a set of twins than one might have suspected. Both totally stand up type of people.

LOL, your wife thought you had been at a bar all day, now that's funny as hell. Is there another story about a bar you have yet to disclose to us?

 

I got another story that has a Bar in it for another time. I was actually in a Bar at the time. So it's a good one.

The reason JoAnn lost her legs had to do with the diabetes she had. So she was in the Hospital this time,(1998) it was here hand that was having circulation problems, and they amputated her finger. So I met her daughter and son in law at the Hospital I had a Red Dale shirt on, the shades and a Goodwrench hat. I had this cardboard Standup of the Real Dale. So I had a few folks following me when I went in and we took the elevator up several floors to Joann's room and I walked in the Standup under my arm. I told her I couldn't find a get well card so this would just have to do, I signed the Back of it "Get well soon Your friend _______" the other Dale. I never signed any thing that was Dales stuff I would sign a picture of me and it was my own signature. I was also a member of his Fan Club and the fan club newsletter told if you wanted and Autograph send it to his address and send it with return postage and he would get to it. It might take a few months but he would sign it.
So I always carried a little card that had that information on it so folks could send him stuff, for the autograph. I probably went in the see JoAnn looking like the photo attached. This 3 Car is not mine belongs to a friend. I never felt comfortable in having this type of Car although it would have been exciting. It wouldn't be Honorable, so I drove the ones everyone else made up and sometimes the shock factor was a bit intense.
