Default Caged!

Well I have been helping a kid in my Chassis Fab class put a roll cage in his EK civic hatch. We are using 1 5/8" 120wall DOM tubing. We are making it all from scratch and the whole cage will be TIG welded except where the plates meet the floor. Its a pretty fun project. Here are some pics of the progress. Todays project was the brace between the strut towers. It was a PITA welding the tubing to the plates but I got it done. We didnt have a hand control so I had to use the pedal the whole time. Let me tell you, there are contortionist that couldnt get into the positions I was in to weld this thing.

I will keep you guys updated with pics as we go.

Default Progress

Here are some more pics of the progress. We got the rest of the X done today and Aaron welded most of it in. Luckily he wanted to weld today so I only had to weld one joint today. I wont complain. The only thing left to do is make the door bars. What do you think?

More still to come
