The Baddest Trans Am You've Ever Laid Eyes On
This twin-turbo Firebird is as fast as a Corvette Z06 and ten times as stylish
Gregg Hamilton lives inside the world of rallying. A longtime mechanic for some of the world's best WRC teams, like Toyota Team Europe and Prodrive, Hamilton is a pro when it comes to sideways all-wheel-drive hot hatches with hugely turbocharged engines.
But Hamilton, who grew up in New Zealand and now works on Ken Block's outrageous Hoonigan gymkhana machines in the U.S., has a soft spot for raucous American muscle. And when he set out to build a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, he combined the best of both worlds.
So this old-school Smokey and the Bandit Pontiac now rocks a twin-turbo, fuel injected 5.3-liter V8 and a six-speed manual. Hamilton doesn't know exact numbers, but says it's about as fast as a brand-new Corvette Z06.
