You might have heard that your commute is killing you. What's really taking a toll on your health is the polluted air, lengthy traffic delays and dodging accidents to and from work. Forbes has put together a list of the most unhealthy commuter cities. See who made the list. I sure wouldn't want to drive a Big Rig in the above listed cities : ( [font="time |
RE: Bad Commutes USA
I go to work at 4:30 in the morning and it is a 15 minute commute for me at that time. I probably would not like the commute if I had to drive at 7:30 - 8:30 as that would double if not triple my travel time.

Hi J.R.,You are lucky to be on the Roads that early.Did you use your fog lights this morning ? :D(Sorry, I just had to add that : )I haven't been to Orlando that many times, but when Ido it's crazy..It seems like everyone is driving aggressive, &rides you bumper. RE: Bad Commutes USA
I live about 5 minutes away from my job. So I can't complain about my commute. It's also the main reason I only put 69,000 kilometers on my previous car in the 8 years I owned it.

RE: Bad Commutes USA
Don't work on Mondays and I'm usually on the road before fog begins :-p

RE: Bad Commutes USA
Jobless at the moment :( One of the worst things about switching schools in the middle of the year is that most places have had there opening filled, still looking though. Over the summer it was about an hour fifteen for the drive on the highway to my uncle's place, but he put me up during the week so I just made the trip every Monday and Friday.

RE: Bad Commutes USA
I walk to work, my shop is on my property. I guess I could park closer to the porch then drive like 2 car lengths to the shop porch, then back up two car lengths to come home. LOL

RE: Bad Commutes USA
So far it looks like the member's that posted are lucky, & don't have to put work miles on their Monte's. `Becky, may I suggest you let you son take your Monte for a few days to blow out the carbon : ) LOL [sm=gears.gif] |
RE: Bad Commutes USA
I'm surprised Boston wasn't close to the top of the list. My wife leaves her office at 5:00PM and doesn't get home until after 6:30-7:00. Bumper to bumper commute for miles and miles leaving Boston and heading North on Interstate 93.
One guy gets a flat or runs out of gas and the whole parade grinds to a halt. |
RE: Bad Commutes USA
the good 'ol days are almost over for me. i live 3.5 miles from school. starting in the fall, i've got about a 40 mile drive both ways to college. the dorms there are unfurnished, and cost almost as much as gas to live at home... so the plan is to just drive like heck to wake forest every day :)

RE: Bad Commutes USA

RE: Bad Commutes USA
WoW `Duane, you sure will keep the carbon out of your Monte Carlo. Your miles will really add `up. Is it interstate driving ? I would ask for a radar detector for graduation : ) How many hours are you taking your first year ? I would love to be able to live on campus....I think ? Wish you the best...I know you will keep your Monte in great shape...Hope they have good parking there : ) ? Good Luck `Duane on your Life's `Journey. Peace/Out/`Space |
RE: Bad Commutes USA
Hi 'Space
I'll have to burn out all the carbon from the past few years. it is 0 miles interstate too. i'll have to take State Route 96 to State Route 56 toUS Highway 1 (4 lane road, few readlights to southeastern), then a mile and a half to the school from US 1. Radar detectors are about half worthless around here. All the cops have push button radar, and they can write you a ticket here without getting a steady readout on you. Parking is descent there as well, nice wide spots (unlike my high school spots that a pick up truck can barelly fit in with a few inches on each side). I'm looking forward to college and my life journey. |
RE: Bad Commutes USA
Hi Duane, You are lucky to be attending a Super College. I checked out their site : ) It's beautiful there. When do you graduate HS? Will you start college in the summer, or fall semester ? Wish you the best....`Space |
RE: Bad Commutes USA
I think you're looking at the wrong college there Space....
www.sebts.edu www.secwf.edu The first link is the seminary, the second is the college. However, the campus is the old Wake Forest Campus. They bought it back in 1950 I believe. |

Sorry `Duane, I got lost in Cyber Space again.I've been having a problem on my net commutes lately : (http://www.secwf.edu/images/jump_to_sebts.gif[:-]I see on your site that the college has Online Class. Will you be able to take any of them from your homeand save you some miles.I've learned that most professor's don't care `if you are in classor not, as long as you come in for the test.Right now, that's what I'm doing since I am without my Monte Carlo. Thanks for posting your links, I will check them out.Wish you a Safe Commute : )`Space

RE: Bad Commutes USA
Hey... I probablyhave thetoughestcommute. I have to battle all the weather to back out ofthe driveway... then pull back in... and fight all the weather to get back inside. I rushand get myself a cup of coffee, and sit at my computer filling out as many job applications I can for MLive, Michigan Talent Bank, Career Builders, Yahoo Jobs, and Monster.com. Then I have to go outside, fight all the weather, get in my car... Back out of the driveway... look around, and pull back in. Then get out and fight all the weather and go back inside.
Makes for a tough day and tough commute...;):):D |
