Thanks `Greg & member's for your post/input 2 this thread...

I believe it's so much better to own your car , instead of having your car own `YOU

It seems many that purchase a new ride or any ride 4-get about the expenses to maintain the vehicle that they purchased. Maintenance cost/Insurance/depreciation etc...I do wish that American Vehicles had a better warranty like the Koreans 10 yr 100K warranty...Most American vehicle are 3yr 36K miles & 5yr 60K mile powertrain warranties

I can understand why so many American's are not buying American vehicle We should be able to warrant our rides like the overseas companies...Are they telling us that are rides won't last as long

Above from my tired space `Mind

I would say not everyone can afford to put down 25% of a car 25% of a $30k car is $7500. Not many people have the ability to save up that kind of money. When I bought my 04 I could only afford to put 18% down, which was $2000. My loan is long, but I also wanted to keep my payments low just incase. And what do you know a few weeks after I got the car my hours get cut.

The hardest part is distinguishing what you can afford and what you want though.

I've been wanting a 5th Generation Camaro since they were unveiled. But I knew how much I needed to save up, and how long it would take me to save up if I was able to put away around $300 - $400 / month.

Yes, sometimes you are in tough situations and things can't be helped, but the majority of the time, you just need to make sacrifices if you can't afford something. The last thing you want is to ever be upside-down on any kind of debt. Nothing in the world is worth making a bad purchase.

Money is the root of a lot evil, that's such a popular saying because of how true it is. Heated arguments happen just because of money far too often. As Space often points out, you have to give-up to get

Not calling anyone out in specific, it's just a shame that so many people are making these poor decisions on car loans. The giant depression crisis was because of poor home loans, and banks got in a lot of trouble. Seems like no one is learning their lesson here and now banks are taking advantage of people on the car side again.

I just hope this doesn't wind up killing the car industry in a few years. Especially if you have over a 5-year loan and wind up wrecking a car that isn't worth anything anymore.

Well when I went for my car I had an idea of my worst scenario income budget and budgeted for that. Right now i'm above that worst case scenario and im trying to throw extra money at the car low to A. pay it off sooner, and B. establish better credit. I'm very smart with my money

Good, I hope it stays that way

When I went for my car loan, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my credit score was above 800. Then it was sad to see that my score was higher than 84% of Americans (according to the report)

My car is going to cost me $289 a month over 5 years. And I even plan to pay that off in 4.

Everyone seems to just want something right away, not take the time to save for it haha
That's too easy Mike

I am not good with Money at all but fortunately Ronda is. House will be paid off in about 5 years Sally, and the Deuce are paid off and the Buick will be paid off 2 years early. If I where single Id be living in a tent driving a new corvette.

I also put 30% of my pay into the 401k at work and get an allowance from the wife. If I want a mod for the deuce I have to save my allowance. I was always broke before I met Ronda. She can make Lincoln cry she pinches pennies so hard (LOL)
