Cort,

To me there's something about the body lines of all 4th gen Montes that makes them stand out. It's a timeless design that people still like today. Much in the way the '55/56/57 Chevies are.

From what I can see the '81-88 Montes are almost as popular today as they were when new.

yah, i agree with you rj, the one i wanted the most a few years ago was an 85 or so SS, loved the look and sound of the car would have been fun

i still like mine now though, just for the comfort and i think it has just as much speed if not more than the v8's of 81-88, but those cars were a lot easier to work on....but i dont think i could get a car seat in the back of it

Josh,

I'm sure you've seen me post this so much you know what I'm going to say. (and Cort probably just did say it)

I'd love to own an '86-88 SS Monte.

Mydad tried to talk me into buying one new but I backed out. Wish I would have. I do love my '86 LS but the SSs are the apex of Monte styling to me.

I should have bought a new SS in the '80s. But I didn't want the car payment at the time.

I bought a used car in 1985 (cause I had to), paid the loan off in 1/2 the time and was enjoying having a full paycheck again.

In early 1986 I got tendonitis on my right wrist at work (called: Right Intersection Syndrome) where the tendons for the back of your hand and thumb cross at the top of your wrist. It took Worker'sComp over a year to make up their minds about this case in the meantime my employer sent me a nice letter at home stating I was fired after 8.5 years of service.

At the time I looked at not having a car payment as a blessing.
