Disabling Onstar - YouTube
"Personal GPS location information, speed, safety belt usage, and other information can be sold to third parties, including law enforcement," writes forensic scientist Jonathan Zdziarski. "To add insult to a slap in the face, the company insists they will continue collecting and selling this personal information even after you cancel your service, unless you specifically shut down the data connection to the vehicle after canceling."

The companies making the intersection lights are making millions, while the civil authories are making almost zilch with very few people paying the fines.

If you don't subscribe to OnStar, and are that worried about tracking. Simply go in the trunk and unplug the OnStar unit. Many people remove the unit completely and gain some trunk space back.

Our government is looking for more ways to generate revenue and to control what we do. If you want an idea of how bad it will get read George Orwell's 1984. There is also a version on video. If I had onstar in one of my cars I would yank it out. It is bad enough that they can track my activity with the GPS on every cell phone but at least those don't give any info other than speed and location. If I could figure out how to disable the GPS in my phone I would. Our government intrusion will only get worse and with every roadside camera that is installed just adds more.

Surveillance cameras don't bother me. Maybe it's because I work in an industry that requires constant surveillance. As long as the cameras aren't in the bathroom, I don't care if they watch me. I've worked in a heavily surveillance monitored work place for 16 years (I work at a casino). The cameras have never caused me a problem yet. As long as I'm not doing something wrong, I got nothing to worry about.
The streets of London, England have had surveillance camera coverage for many, many years. Londoners are used to it and most couldn't care less about them. The cameras actually help settle who is at fault in traffic collisions.
