I think at one time or another we've all been thru that at least once. You guys & girls know that you only have to put the oil filter on hand tight RIGHT ? Doesn't have to be torqued on. Just a firm twist and your go to go. I've had one do that one my Chevelle one time. Took me about 4 hrs to get it off. All my oil filter wrenchs wouldn't move it. I had to go buy one with a rubber strap to go around it. Then one foot on the frame of the car and pull till I was blue in the face. And it was only on 3 months before that. After putting on the new one. I went and had lunch and a cold beer or 3. Then had the idea of checking it to make sure it was OK. It was . I get to change my oil on both cars this month. That should be a JOY. Jenny glad you got it off. Even thou it was a pain

psh, tore that place apart and found nothing on no desk.

That filter was so cheap too! tore it apart to find the filter element is held together with glue and cardboard.

Yeah. Who's grarage?

I work with some people who do the same thing. Use the shop tools and say they left them on the bench. Guess they meant the bench in their locker.

I always put a hole in the bottom to drain the oil out of it before I take it off. I have a pliers type wrench, works great. I may switch to the jaw type now tho you guys talked me into it and it may make a few other cars I do easier.

Most oil filters are built like that with glue and cardboard but I recently saw a commercial for an oil filter that uses an aliminum back instead of cardboard. Dont remember the brand but it is probably expensive.

I saw the same commercial. I couldn't remember which one it was either. Mike remembered though. Thanks Mike!

Getting the oil filters off these Montes is the worst part of the oil change process. Would've been nice if it was in a more accessible area other than reaching your whole arm up inside the engine bay.

Nice work, Jennifer! The old 'screwdriver hammered through the oil filter' trick works every time.

Now it's time to kick you brother's butt until he finds your wrench...
