Toronto police have issued an Amber Alert for an eight-year-old Toronto boy who they believe has been abducted.
Joshua Low is described as Asian, four feet tall, between 40 and 45 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, and blue and yellow shoes.
Joshua is believed to be in the company of his mother, Jessica Yi Qing Low-Zheng, a 45-year-old Asian woman of a thin build, with long black hair and brown eyes. She is five feet one inch tall.
The pair was last seen in a four-door, brown 2000 Toyota Corolla, with an Ontario licence plate BAME 697.
"We are quite concerned for the boy's safety," Toronto Police Const. Tony Vella told CP24 Saturday night.
Vella said Joshua's father first called police on April 13, when Low-Zheng left the family home with the boy.
But it wasn't until police received additional information a week later that they decided to issue an Amber Alert. Vella wouldn't elaborate, but urged Low-Zheng to contact police and return home.
Vella said Low-Zheng has ties to the York and Hamilton regions.
He said Joshua's father is "obviously upset and distraught."
Anyone who sees Low-Zheng and Joshua is asked to call 911.
Anyone with information about their whereabouts can also contact police at 416−808−3300 or Crime Stoppers at 416−222−TIPS.
An Amber Alert is an emergency bulletin issued across the province – or Canada, depending on the case – when police believe a missing child may have been kidnapped.
