All-New 2016 Chevrolet Malibu
Chevrolet debuted its all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Hybrid at the New York International Auto Show earlier this week.
What do you guys think? I am personally a huge fan of this car. The front has an aggressive appearance and from there the body lines flow smoothly to the rear. Overall a very nice looking car.
2016 Malibu will offer a pair of turbo 4-cylinders - a 160-hp 1.5L with a 6-speed automatic and a 250-hp 2.0L with an eight-speed automatic. Malibu Hybrid will have the 1.8L paired with two electric motors. Based on GM testing, expected fuel economy for the non-hybrid and hybrid versions is 37 MPG highway and 48 MPG CITY respectively. With this debut, it also appears Chevrolet will be renaming its current top-level trim package of "LTZ" to "Premier" moving forward.

I used to make interior parts for the 90's malibu's lol, the b pillars and the carpet retainers and actually liked the cars back then.
I do like the look of the new ones and if I was in the market for a new car would definitely test drive one

I like it. It seems clear to me that they are going after the Ford Fusion. I wouldn't be able to tell them apart in the dark - the profile is the same. But more aggressive styling. Edgier, newer. They haven't announced it yet, but you can bet Chevy will be using this car in NASCAR next year.
I was honestly a little surprised at this new 9th gen being released just three years after the 8th gen released but I don't think the 8th gen did as well as GM was expecting. One apparent thing is that this new 2016 Malibu is in a completely different World compared to the 1997-07 models. Each generation since 07 has gotten better overall, especially styling and appearance-wise.
I didn't think of the Nascar picture but that's a real possibility.

Chevy is actually discontinuing the SS, so Chevy needs a new model for NASCAR. I think it will help sales. The average NASCAR fan would not be very inclined to buy the SS - it's not affordable or practical. Half the fans in the grandstands will want one of these. Maybe not all people choose a car like this, but it's how Chevy sold me a Monte Carlo and how Ford sold me my Fusion.
This new Malibu will likely be the JuniorCar of the future

I LOVE it! My 2014 Bu might only be around for 2-3 years before I trade it in for a 2017 (give it a year to work out the bugs, lol).
I've been a big fan of the Malibu every since they released the 08 redesign. I absolutely love my 2014 Turbo Malibu. It's a sharp, VERY comfortable car, handles great and is fast as hell. I can only imagine how awesome the new redesign might be.
