Acetone in Gas?

Anyone ever tried this? Snopes says no, oil companies say no... but still a lot of people like to claim that acetone, mixed in a very small amount with the gasoline in your car, will give you a lot better fuel mileage... up to 20% even. Anyone ever tried mixing like a 1/4th cup of acetone with a fill up and seeing if it gives any marked improvement? There are a couple of people swearing by it, one guy saying he's been doing it since the '50s. Some people say it makes the car run smoother and some say it can make a check engine light due to a clogged O2 sensor go away. What do you guys think of it?

Mythbusters was accused of being paid off by the gas companies to screw up the results to make people buy more oil too.... kind of funny if you ask me. We just can't trust anyone in this country... if you can't trust an oil company, who in the hell can you trust?????

I saw that episode of Mythbusters. But I also heard more about the Acetone in your engine thing when I was in school. I was told that acetone will eat your engine. Literally. The amount doesn't matter. It will take longer with smaller amounts. But it will slowly destroy your engine. No matter how much or how little you put in.
Not sure if it's true. Just what I was told.
And I'm not being paid off by the oil companies either. But I'm willing to accept offers though. LOL

Be neat to do a mock up on this. Set up a static display motor and run it. With out acetone it would run for say 5 hours on a tank and with acetone it ran for 5 hours 5 minutes or whatever. As far as eating up an engines internals and getting better mileage here is a link to view. Seems like this person is pretty knowledgable and says the Acetone in the fuel actually works to increase mileage and will not harm engine parts, but will ruin your paint job.
And within a week of V.P. Johnson being sworn in he reversed President Kennedys decision to pull out of Vietnam. The Military Industrial Complex had it's new darling president.... And Johnson riddled with guilt over sending so many men to their death over the fabricated war "Gulf of Tonkin" never ran for re-election.
