Oh, plus I drive a 240 ton truck for work.
Anytime I get under a friend's vehicle I make sure it's off, if it needs to be running then I have him/her get out and help me. For work anytime anyone's around the truck it has to be locked out with locks so that it can't start, propel, or do anything depending on the work.

Wow, you are on lucky SOB man, still ****ty deal but worked out for the best i guess?
My brother almost died working on his car a few years back (88 cutlass...) started it for a few mins.. then went to work under the car... im sure you can fill in the blanks...

brad, what a scary situation for you and your friends!! very very glad to hear that you are doing ok. definitely hope you make a full recovery very soon. and as soon as you do, give your friend a good swift kick in the nuts. :-D
