Default 9/11 Responders Care Bill defeated?

A bill providing health care for 9/11 responders is defeated in the House, despite a majority vote. What are your thoughts on this????

We pay $42 a month for a land line. 2 reasons: If the power goes out, we have a phone AND the utilities co's know who we are, just by our phone # dialing in. #2, 911. Cell phones will get you to the dispatcher, but that's it. On a land line, just pick up the phone and dial 911. Saying nothing will get a cop to your house, cuz they know where you are at.

My point? There are SO FEW land lines anymore, people feel like it's outdated. Maybe it is. It works good from a land line.

A land line is no good without a simple $8 princess phone. Anything that plugs into the wall is useless. Just my 2¢.

eta: As for the OP, I read that the Democrats wanted to add a bunch of pork to it.

this is common practice on both sides.

and what's so bad about earmarks? you pay taxes to Washington, don't you think some of that should come back to your community?

GUILTY AS CHARGED!
Sorry, I tend to skim the threads a lot lately, and I guess I got that one wrong.
We're getting ready to sell our house and move cuz of the wife's promotion. So I tend to skim threads while moderating.
