The Porsche 911R is the best car Porsche has made since the epic Cayman GT4.
Equipped with nothing but a naturally aspirated four-liter flat six, rear-wheel-drive, and a manual transmission, it's the enthusiasts dream 911. It's the hottest thing on the block right now, which is why all 991 examples are sold out. The guys over at Sport Auto got their hands on one, however, and they aren't afraid to use it.In Sport Auto's video, test driver Christian Gebhardt has no problem thrashing the 911R whatsoever. The footage is mostly on-board from inside the cabin, where you can see Gebhardt whipping the steering wheel around, and flat shifting through the car's fantastic six-speed manual gearbox.
The R carries the same four-liter flat-six cylinder engine as its more hardcore GT3 RS sibling, but doesn't have the drag-inducing rear wing to hold it back. Auto Sport manages to top out the car at 197.5 miles per hour
�four miles per hour short of Porsche's official top speed number.Since the 911R is so special, there's an inevitability most of them won't be driven to their full potential. We're glad it isn't the case for this one.
