A common punishment
<RICHTEXTABSTRACT>
Losing your driver's license for speeding or some other traffic violation is bad enough. But how about a suspension because you bounced a check, littered or had an unpaid student loan?
In fact, there are dozens of ways to lose your driver's license without ever committing a moving violation. (See "59 ways to lose your license: A list.") We've compiled 28 of the more surprising offenses here.
Use of driver's license suspensions to punish other kinds of offenses is becoming more common, according to a 2012 draft report by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators. The group says the practice dilutes the power of safety-related laws and is costly to administer.
A license suspended for nondriving reasons is a minor offense for many insurance companies if fees and fines are quickly paid and the license reinstated. You may lose only your safe-driver discount. A long-term suspension, however, could lead to cancellation or nonrenewal -- and that will make your next insurance policy much more expensive.
Click ahead to see the 28 surprising offenses that could cost your license.

I used to never make it 3 years without a ticket. It has been about 5 years now. Most were speeding and one reckless driving (did a burn out from a light and around a corner). Two were on Motorcycles.

When I was 16:
I got 47 points in less than a year...

No drag raceing, wreckless, or careless driveing...or drunk driveing...

That was in my 65 GTO...all for 5 and 10 overs and 1 running a stop sign...

I use to cruise: Woodward, Telegraph and Gratiot...7 nights a week.
I had a reputation with all the local cops...

NEVER ONCE DID THEY EVER CATCH ME RACEING!...
All they did was hear me running...but never caught me in the act!
Back then.. I was the guy that everyone wanted to race...

I have had several tickets and pulled over more times than I'd care to count but no suspensions. I have had restrictions a few times tho.

2 suspensions that I can remember (1) for underage drinking and (1) for convicted DUI ...... can't really remember how long though, I think the underage drinking was only 30 days? I should have had atleast 2-3 others for DUI, paid 3k to get out of 1 with a lawyer and the other 1, I was already parked out of the car and at home when the police pulled up to me. 1 other 1 while going to Wendys for a late nite chili and 2 bacon jr cheese burgers on 10-12-2003 (still have the receipt)....... I called the GF at the time and she drove down and told the police I was going with her and my car was gonna be parked for the night......

as said before....."you booze, you cruise, you lose"
