2013 Monte Nat question

I have just downloaded the registraion form for the Monte Nats

Last year the Deuce competed in Class 9 (2000 - 2007 Monte SS) and won best in class

This year I am giving serious thought to competing in Gold Class (1970 - 2007 Monte all models)

I know there where 2007 Monte gold class winners last year and belive the Duce has a shot at it.

Please provide input why i should or should not go for Gold class this year. Some of you have seen the Deuce in person and some of you have competed in the Nats before

Check out my garage pictures and please be honest.

Thanks!

ChibiBlackSheep 01-10-2013 04:37 PM

Not sure yet....

The mrs isnt quite up to par....this evening.(just woke up from her nap)
From her procedure... But I would definately like to attend:)
Im sure im gonna have to make a decision soon in order to stay with
everyone whos going from the forum....Im going to talk with her over dinner and see if I can swing it. as long as the dates dont conflict with our vaca in June also.

03SSLE 01-10-2013 05:23 PM

There's an old French Proverb:

'Qui onques rien n'enprist riens n'achieva' which translated means 'He who never undertook anything never achieved anything'. You already know the Deuce is worthy of Best In Class when competing against other Class 9 Montes, and you know there were '07 Monte Gold Class Winners last year. That in itself would be enough for me to say go for it. Besides, a Gold Class Plaque would look pretty good hangin' on the garage wall. Go for it!

STUMPMI 01-10-2013 05:38 PM

Any Chance:

That we can all stick together for a 4 1/2 hr drive to richmond indiana?

I just filled out the online form...for my membership...all im waiting for is
is them to mail it to me....

According to the mrs:
It wont interfer with our Vaca plans! So yes Tad... Im going....

Now the question is...whos reserved there rooms....and did anyone figure to get them somehwhat together as the Official MCF'rs?

77gp 01-10-2013 06:13 PM

I dont know too much about the Nats but if I can attend, I might. Only less than 2 hrs.
Sorry Tad for changing subject. Of coarse, I would just be a spectator..
I would enter it if you feel it is worthy of it. Go bigger than you did last year, why repeat...

lougreen03 01-10-2013 06:26 PM

Tadd I agree with everyone else go for the gold.:)

STUMPMI 01-10-2013 07:13 PM

Yw Tad!

Wayne you definately Need to attend this one!

AwesomeSS 01-10-2013 08:08 PM

I honestly think that newer cars don't belong in the Gold Class but I don't make the rules. My car is 10.5 years old and I think 10 years old should be the cut off. I haven't decided if I will enter the Gold Class or not.

Amy, this is exactly this idealoligy that keeps more MCF members from going to the NATS...

More than one MCF member has told me they felt the Nats where geared for older Montes and they felt left out after attending. As the older Montes fade away the NMCOA needs to boast its ranks and I feel us newer Montes are doing that.

When I went last year there were lots of 7th gen Montes there, and I never felt any segregation from the members with the older cars. I was fully accepted eventhough my car was only 6 years old at the time

I mean no disrespect Amy and hope you don't take it wrong, but i just wanted to point it out

Montess2k 01-11-2013 08:18 AM

I must be getting old, cause for the life of me I don't remember you're car there...guess I'll make up for it this year and be on the look out for it. As for the gold class ya got nothing really to lose, so go for it.

EDIT: Just realized you meant the Monte nationals and not the GM nationals, hence why I didn't see you're car there last year, and will not be seeing it this year....lol...

Confused David The Hotel is near Indy how can it be 0.9 miles inside the state line? Late in the day maybe I am just getting dense

My route shows I69 south to I70 to I40

Are you going to meet us on I69 just north of the boarder?

06mistreSS 01-11-2013 04:16 PM

Tadd, I'd say go for Gold Class.

Richmond, Indiana is just inside the Indiana/Ohio border (between Indianapolis and Dayton). I'll most likely meet up with you guys at the Michigan/Indiana border.

STUMPMI 01-11-2013 07:09 PM

Did u read the first line?:rotfl:
I did it out of curiosity. Lol
yes ... I'll be there!

I feel a song coming on.:rotfl:

So whatever time we deceide to meet up there ..
Im gonna have to leave my house at least 2hrs
ahead of the time. To meet you in time.

Sorry I couldnt post this sooner as I was tending to the Mrs...

werewolf-odst 01-11-2013 11:46 PM

Go for everything!! No prisoners! Lol. Good luck!

turbo monte 01-12-2013 08:05 AM

I feel you have a good chance at it for sure but only reason I am saying go for the same class as last year is to defend your title :)

Tadcaster 01-12-2013 08:56 AM

Well I got the Deuce registered for the Monte Nationals!

I'll either go home empty handed or one very happy camper!

Yvw Tad!

You know I havent done a show with my car since right around 1999..
I wonder if it would be a waste of time and effort to also bring trophys I won back then along with some of the dash plaques?

Along with a few other goodies?
Or would that be like pressing the issue of a before and after effect?
Since it definately doesnt look like she use to. Shes accumulated way to many little dents dings from over the years...like car dings, hail, etc lol.
But I definately wanna make a decent showing with what she truly is...
Maybe they have a daily driver award?...:rotfl:

turbo monte 01-12-2013 10:20 AM

Good luck!!! Bring home the big one! :D

This matter of bringing past thropies to a car show has always been a matter of debate. Personally, I leave mine at home

Maybe take em and see what everyone else is doing? You can always leave them in the room if you decide not to.

Tadcaster 01-12-2013 11:02 AM

Thanks John! Good luck yourslf at the GM nats! Make us proud!

turbo monte 01-12-2013 11:09 AM

Ive considered that option for sure Tad...
Im just not so sure I can get it back to somewhat show worthy by then.(It definately need some paint work) Especially the hood...and Im sure covering it with a Bra at showtime wont be very impressive...
Maybe I will just hangout and root for everyone to make good showing. and Not enter mine...
But thanks for the input Tad!:)

I agree with you Tadd - I NEVER take any previous awards to other car shows - even the National shows I have entered and won (2 Chevyvettfests, 1 MCACN show, 1 NMCOA show). When I am judging cars (I help judge at the local car shows) I pretty much ignore them - and if the trunk or backseat is loaded with them I actually take point off because I can't see what's underneath them - they could be hiding dirt and such.

SnakebiteSS 01-13-2013 11:31 AM

Good luck! Yours is one of my favorite Montes on this forum. Definitely deserving of a gold class win!
