Thumbs up 2012 Chevy Corvette : )

The 2012 Corvette to see price increases

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->The Chevrolet Corvette has seen better days with regards to sales even with no real competition in the current American market but that’s not stopping GM from hiking the price for the 2012 model year. That's OK, it's just a dream car 4 many `kids

The price increases for the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette are up almost across the entire price range with the only model seeing a drop being the incredible Corvette ZR1. In addition to the cars themselves getting price increases, according to the folks at Corvette Blogger the options and packages will also cost more for the 2012 model year.
The increases start at the bottom of the lineup with the 2012 Corvette Coupe jumping $480 to $49,525 while the 2012 Corvette Convertible goes up by the same amount to $54,525. For the Coupes, the 2LT group is up to $2,095 from $1,195, the 3LT models climb from $4,205 to $5,995 and the top of the premium 4LT package jump from $7,705 to $9,495. The Corvette convertible 2LT package, on the other hand, drops from $3,190 to $2,095. Overall, this means that a 2012 Corvette Coupe or Convertible with the 4LT package will set you back $2,270 over the 2011 model with the same package. The ZR1’s magnetic selective ride control is available in these models for just $1,995.
Next, the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Coupe jumps $880; from $55,045 to $55,925 while the droptop Grand Sport Convertible only goes up by $480, from $59,045 to $59,525. The prices for the 3LT and 4LT packages for the 2012 Grand Sport Coupe and Convertible see the exact same price increases as the base 2012 Corvette models (as shown above) and the Convertible 2LT package sees the same decrease as the base model verts. Magnetic selective ride control is available in the 2012 Grand Sport Coupe and Convertible for $1,695.
The 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 1LZ climbs by the biggest margin, with the cost of the LS7 powered monster jumping from $74,375 to $75,525 – an increase of $1,150. The Z06 2LZ rises from $2,665 to $4,310 and the Corvette Z06 3LZ package jumps from $7,170 to $8,815. The ZR1’s high tech suspension can be added to the 2012 Z06 for just $2,495 and the Z06 Ultimate Performance Package tacks on $7,500.
Finally, the good news is that if you were looking to get a new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 – 2012 could be your year to save some cash as the ZR1 drops from $111,600 to $111,525. While it is only a $75 decline in cost, that is better than a price increase, right? The Corvette ZR1 3ZR package will run you the same $10,000 in 2012 that it does in 2011 and the ZR1 Performance Package adds on an extra $1,495. Keep in mind, this is the same car that just broke the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR's record at the Nürburgring among American models.

If you were thinking about writing a check for that much money, the price increase doesn't matter to you.

I just hate that hte Feds made them take out the hideaway lights.... that just sucks. Stupid law... people were more likely to die being hit by one of those cars because they're always going so D*MNED FAST!!!!

But no car before or perhaps even into the future offers more horsepower and reliabiltiy per $$ than the Chevrolet Corvette. It is a much better buy than the Dodge Viper in my opinion, speed and options, and much cheaper than the short lived Ford GT. For the price, it can't be beat. Are those $70,000 Shelby Mustangs better? Maybe, but look at the price.... Dodge Vipers are like what, $90-130,000, and you don't even get the options you get with a Corvette, seriously? Unless they've changed lately... I don't keep up with those cars that much.

What I'm trying to figure out is how Chevrolet gets that much power into a Corvette for the price while the Camaro still costs almost the same price... isn't the Camaro in the 40's?

The bumpers would never line up since they changed the designs of the cars. Yeah, I tried ot find something... the Department of Highway Safety did tests with cars with and without hideaway lights and determined that hideaway lights added weight to the bumper and caused more pedestrian casualties. I figure it's because the only cars that ever had tehm were Corvette's and Firebird's, cars that always haul some @$$.

I still like the Corvette... the exposed headlight is growing on me. Woudl still rather have the pre -05 body myself. Drop the ZL-1 motor in it!
