Overview Information
General Motors introduced its Chevrolet Volt concept to rave reviews in 2007. The production model may wear softened styling for improved aerodynamics, but the basic idea remains the same. The Volt is a rechargeable electric vehicle with a small gasoline engine used solely as a generator for the battery. This enables electric only operation for up to 40 miles with the security of the generator for longer range when required. The Volt uses lithium-ion batteries rechargeable in about 3 hours on 240V, or 8 hours on 120V. The production version of the Volt is due in late 2010. Pricing is expected to be around $40,000(.
...What $40K...I don't know about You, but I sure don't have that kinda $'s 4 a `Volt

I liked the original concept Volt. The two door sports car-esque Volt.
In my opinion, the production version blows! Looks like it should have a Honda logo on the front of it.
And the fact that it's going to have a sticker price of $40k, spells out a sure-fire failure in my book.
Bring back the original version, and I'll buy one. This one just blows!

agree with taz 100%, the first thing I thought when I saw that picture was Honda's first hybrid car (minus tacky rim), or even the newer accords.
and $40K for a slow car, just with good gas mileage? No thank you. Based on the interest that is greater and the more expensive loan to buy, it's not worth it to save money at the pumps :P
If that car was maybe $28K tops, it would probably sell really well.

Good luck with that Vaporware GM. I hope it comes out because they need it to, but I don't know if it can possibly be a success with that price tag.
Also, they should have kept it more like the concept instead of a Prius copy cat.

`Ted, thanks 4 posting pic's of the concept. Yes, itlooks 100% better.
$40 K is way 2 high & even @ 40 MPG's.
The new Camaro with a V6 will get over 30 MPG's on the Hwy
for a lot less $'s & more power/fun, and it won't
run `up your electric bill charg'in your Volt : )
I hope they rethink their direction or wait until
they can produce vehicles that the average person can afford.
That's `all....Peace/Out
That's funny!

The auto companies keep saying that electric vehicles are the answer to all of life's problems.
Now correct me if I'm wrong. But don't major cities all over the U.S. have rolling blackouts and brown outs because of a supply & demand problem with the power grid?
Taking gasoline powered cars off the streets and replacing them with electric vehicles will only add to the problem won't it?
