About 80% of all Japanese cars for the last 20+ years have been designed in Pasadena California by Americans Student Graduates of the Pasadena school of art and design.

Yep, I do remember them old Datsuns GPD,and they were a square box. It seems that all 2 doorcars lately are looking the same. Even the Pontiac G5 or whatever they call it, in the coupe version to me looks like the Japanese coupes. Probably one of the main reasons I like the Monte, you sure can't put them in the with the rest of the 2 door offerings out there today.

In this Super-Size world we're all about big portions, but what's a person to do if the new Altima sedan strikes you as too much car? You know, those wasteful extra doors, the profligate roofline creating all that annoying interior space, the yawning chasm-ness of its trunk.
We're joking, sort of. But before you reach for the acetylene torch and mass quantities of Bondo, know that Nissan has already done the heavy lifting for you and crafted the Altima Coupe, a car resembling the Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe only with front drive, slightly more user-friendliness and greater affordability.
Of course, coupes are all about style, and from the rear three-quarter view this one's a stunner. The sloping roofline, along with the flat rear fender tops and slightly raised trunklid center section, seems to acknowledge past Zagato designs, and in profile the greenhouse channels the 350Z. A 4.0-in.-shorter wheelbase (105.3 in., versus the sedan's 109.3) and neatly clipped overhangs add some zing, as does a 2.5-in.-lower overall height. So it's doubly disappointing that our test car's 17-in. alloys and tires look small in the oversize flat-edged wheel wells. And the shapely, chiseled tail is an uneasy fit with the car's more bulbous nose, despite a slightly more aggressive grille and front fascia.
[b]Power? In spades... specifically, 270 bhp from the 3.5-liter 4-cam VQ V-6 that was paired with a 6-speed manual transmission in our $25,515 tester.
