My intent sure was not to deflate your self esteem 4-Sure...
It was just a reminder to myself & `all that when we make any purchases, especially a major one like a vehicle or home that it really pays to do your homework before you sign any contact/document 4-Sure.
That Monte could be a great Monte & the repairs could have been done with all new parts by professionals. It is sad that everyone has to be so cautious in todays world , but they `do 
I would delete your thread, but I think it's a good reminder for `all
to `be careful out there when your looking & thinking about buying ?
To me it's a bargaining chip when you go to deal with the dealer and you know about the car you are looking at.
If the car checks `out OK it could be the deal of a lifetime or not
It's great that we have choices & resources like the web to do a lot of research & seek the `truth

It seemed like a decent car. Till space posted the carfax.
I was going to buy an '07 SS with 60,000 miles for $14,000. The dealer who had the car sold it from underneith me. I mean we had a verbal contract and they sold the car to someone else.

That's sad, but I'm also learning that you can't trust everyone's words (especially when it comes to sales)...Was it a reputable dealer ? Did you go to the owner/manager & make a protest ? Yes, I've learned to get every deal in writing + a witness 4-Sure... Don't give up your search for the one that you want...Good Luck
