Angry `Government Motors~> Your New GM ?

Chevrolet Viva is spied, set to replace Aveo

Chevy Viva small car is spied

The lowest rung on the Chevrolet car ladder currently is home to the Aveo. But that car is scheduled to be replaced midway through 2010 with a new model.
Spy shooters have captured engineers testing a prototype of the new car, which Internet chatter says will wear the Viva nameplate.
This is the car that Chevy will put up to compete against the new Ford Fiesta, the Honda Fit, the Toyota Yaris and the Nissan Versa in the small-car segment in the United States.
Our spy shooter grabbed a shot of the interior, as well as several exterior looks. And a little Photoshop work gives us an idea of what the finished product may look like.
Look for a small four-cylinder engine under the hood for the U.S. market. This car is also bound for other markets, where it may get small diesels or three-cylinder engines.

Also, General Motors recently announced that it would build a new small car in a U.S. plant. It wouldn't name the car, but we're betting that this is it. To read more visit the AutoWeek Car news, road tests, photos and insight section.

Yes...Affordable being the key word! LOL

Just thought of something...since we all pay taxes, and we all own 60% of GM now, should't we get empolyee pricing on new GM vehicles???

I agree! 1st it was called the Caviler, then the Cobalt, now the Cruze. Which I think is a cooler name than the other 2.

I owned an 03 Cavalier before the Monte, and while not the most refined car, it was reliable as hell, NEVER a single problem, so I can't say anything bad about the car really...My Monte, which I love, has had more problems then my Cavalier which had none. Those Ecotec engines are awesome!

And I personally like the Cobalt, infact, thats what I was at the dealer looking to buy when I happened to spot my Monte that I just had to have....

This all said, the Cruze is looking pretty good, and MUCH MUCH more refined of a car than its ealier siblings....The Cobalt was better than the Cavalier, and the Cruze is better than the Cobalt.....at least they are moving up...

damn... i really liked the cobalt. a friend went to buy a car, was going for an avao, but found that a stripped down cobalt was not much more expencive. he got the coblat, its a yellow 07, 4cyl, 5speed 2 door, manual windows, locks, & no cruse, base interior, no exterior dressups ( except some aftermarket decals / wheels), it was only a grand or 2 more than the avao, and let me tell you, that thing is FAST!! not only fast, but it sticks the winding roads around here like glue, & he still gets around 30 mpg! i would have really liked to see what the yellow cobalt SS turbo 6/ 5speed combo i posted in my ny auto show could do!

im not big on the styling of the cruze, i hope they at least offer it with the right number of doors & a stick, i also hope its RWD. i do like the turbodiesel option, though. theres alot you can do with a diesel...

So true...My Cavalier was the same 2.2L Ecotec 4 banger with the 5 speed, and that sucker moved...not quite as fast as the Monte, but my Monte sure as hell would not have waxed my Cavalier at all..And I always averaged 30-32 in that car...one time while driving from CA to MO, I got 37.3 MPG! and thats with cruise control on 82MPH the whole time!
I had the 2 door LS Sport, which replaced the old Z24, and it handled very well, my Cavalier would leave the Monte behind on a really windy road, the Monte has a better ride quality, and is MUCH smooter, but not as quick in corners...
