Fastest Cars In The World ( on Planet `Earth):
Top 10 List 2011-2012

Hi Member's, which one would `You like to own/drive ?
What would `You add to the below list...~> Post your `Dream/Your Choice ?

While most of us can only dream of owning the fastest car in the world, some will do whatever it takes to possess the most powerful speed. So, how fast are the fastest cars in the world?

Here are the 10 fastest street legal cars available on the market (production models, as opposed to concept or modified cars) measured by tested top speed (theoretical speeds do not count).

World's Fastest Cars:

1. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport: 267 mph, 0-60 in 2.4 secs. Aluminum, Narrow Angle 8 Liter W16 Engine with 1200 hp, base price is $2,400,000. Although the Bugatti Veyron lost the title to SSC Ultimate Aero on March 2007, Bugatti challenge the record in Germany on July 10, 2010 with the new 2010 Super Sport Version and the Veyron once again claims the title of the fastest car in the world at 267 mph. The original Bugatti Veyron has a top speed of 253 mph, priced at $1,700,000 and equipped with 1001 hp.

#2 is a tie at 260 mph!
2. Hennessey Venom GT: 260 mph, 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, has a 6.2-liter LS9 Turbocharged V8 Twin Turbo V8 Engine producing 1200 hp, has a price tag of $950,000. The Venom GT has yet to be tested and proven, but could possibly hit a top speed of 275 mph. This might just be the Veyron Super Sport's closest competitor!

2. Koenigsegg Agera R: 260 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. 5.0-liter V8 Engine with twin turbo’s, housing 1099 hp. Base price is $1,600,000. If you're into snow sports, the Agera R can be fitted with a Ski Box as well as winter tires, not that I would take one on a ski trip or anything like that. While the Agera R has a massive theoretical top speed, the current tested top speed is 260 mph. Expect this snow car to be the Bugatti's arch enemy for the next 5 years.
Also a tie for #3.
3. SSC Ultimate Aero: 257 mph, 0-60 in 2.7 secs. Twin-Turbo V8 Engine with 1183 hp, base price is $654,400. Tested in March 2007 by Guinness World Records, The SSC Ultimate Aero was the fastest car in the world from March 2007 to July 2010. On March 2011, the Koenigsegg Agera R also surpassed it, forcing this American made car to the #3 spot. Shelby SuperCars will continue their quest to reclaim the fastest car title, and their new SSC Tuatura might do the job (we'll just have to wait).

3. 9ff GT9-R: 257 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. 4.0 Litre V6 Twin-Turbo Engine with 1120 hp, base price is $695,000. Based on the Porsche 911, the 9ff GT9-R 1120 hp version is limited to 20 units and the exterior may be modified to suit the owner.

4. Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo: 248 mph, 0-60 in 2.8 secs. Twin Turbo All Aluminum V8 Engine with 750 hp, base price is $555,000. Smooth and bad-***. It will make you want to show it off non-stop.

5. Koenigsegg CCX: 245 mph, 0-60 in 3.2 secs. 90 Degree V8 Engine 806 hp, base price is $545,568. Made in Sweden, it is the older brother of the Agera R, only losing to 4 other supercars in the world.

6. McLaren F1: 240 mph, 0-60 in 3.2 secs. BMW S70/2 60 Degree V12 Engine with 627 hp, base price is $970,000. The fastest car in the 20th century with doors that looks like bat wings. Maybe Batman needs to order one and paint it black
7. Zenvo ST1: 233 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. Twin-Charged 7.0 liter V8 Engine forging 1,104 hp. Base price: $1,225,000. The first Supercar from Zenvo Automotive, a Danish sports car company in pursuit of speed and perfection. This 100% Danish made supercar is limited to 15 units and the company even promised "flying doctors" to keep your baby functioning.

There is a tie for 8th place at 225 mph.
8. Gumpert Apollo: 225 mph, 0-60 in 3.0 secs, 4.2 liter V8 Engine that houses 650 hp. Base price: $450,000. Gumpert claims that the Apollo was designed such that it could drive upside-down in a tunnel with speeds at 190 mph or above. Of course, no one has tested this yet.
8. Noble M600: 225 mph, 0-60 in 3.7 secs. Twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 Engine with 650 hp. Base price is $330,000. The Noble M600 also happens to be a very cool car. Its inconspicuous design sports a slender and contoured body which does not scream out for attention at every second of the day.
There is a tie for #9!
9. Aston Martin One-77: 220 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 secs. 7.3 litre V12 Engine with 750 hp. Base price: $1,850,000. The production of this is limited to 77, hence the name One-77. This is beauty and power packed into One.

9. Ascari A10: 220 mph, 0-60 in 2.8 secs. 5.0 litre BMW V8 S62 Engine with 625 hp. Base price: $650,000. The company planned to produce 50 of these supercars at its factory in Banbury, England.
We have a tie for 10th place:
10. Lamborghini Aventador: 217 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. V12 Engine with 700 hp, base price is $379,700. According to Lamborghini, Aventador is the name of a Bull that entered into battle at the Saragossa Arena on October 1993. This is the fastest bull in the world!

10. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster: 217 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 secs. Twin turbocharged AMG V12 engine that produces 678 hp. Base price is $1,850,000. The Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster is a limited-edition, with five ever produced. It is the quintessential exotic and exclusive supercar.
10. Ferrari Enzo: 217 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 secs. F140 Aluminum V12 Engine with 660 hp, base price is $670,000. Only 399 were ever produced; the price goes up every time someone crashes.
10. Jaguar XJ220: 217 mph, 0-60 in 3.8 secs. Twin Turbo V6 Engine with 542 hp, base price was $650,000. Made in 1992, this car still has what it takes to make the list.

Although not widely known (yet), these guys should be on the list of supercars as well:

SuperLite Cars Made in the USA, Engineered to Win on the Street and Track by Race Car Replicas

Now there's a supercar you can build to meet your own specs and less money versus purchasing a turnkey status symbol.

Here’s the new Porsche video from Road & Track. Watch Porsche’s fastest street-legal car lap Miller Motorsports Park with factory driver Patrick Long at the wheel of this Porsche 911. Is the Porsche GT2 RS faster than the Porsche GT3 ALMS race car? Let’s find out it in this Porsche review…

First look at the new Superlite LeMans
Superlite Cars will soon begin to accept orders for the new Superlite LeMans, an open-air interpretation of the stunning Superlite SLC. The LeMans has the same chassis, suspension, engine and braking options as the National Championship-winning Superlite SLC, but with an open top, and specific exterior and interior detailing. More details will be announced as they are able to be made public, but for now, here is a rendering that should make the direction clear.

<HGROUP>2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Porsche completes the 911 lineup with this epic 620-hp machine.

When this Porsche 911 GT2 RS launches at the Moscow auto show in August, it will be the crown jewel of the 997 portfolio and complete the lineup. Compared with the last GT2, this new RS serves up a rather unexpected and extreme power boost, adding 90 hp for a total of 620, available at 6500 rpm. Torque from the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six rises just slightly from 505 lb-ft to 516, available from 2250 to 5500 rpm. The huge power jolt likely explains why Porsche went straight to GT2 RS in naming this beast, completely skipping the plain GT2 moniker. Oh, and Porsche says this car will lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes, 18 seconds, which is skull-poppingly quick. For reference, that’s four seconds quicker than the Dodge Viper ACR and only 20 seconds behind the wicked Ferrari 599XX.
The awesome power—more than any other factory Porsche, ever—is transmitted to just the rear wheels and only through a six-speed manual, unlike on the 500-hp Turbo and the 530-hp Turbo S, which are equipped with all-wheel drive and have the PDK dual-clutch transmission as at least an option. Given the off-the-line traction deficit and pokier human shifts, it’s no wonder the GT2 RS takes a claimed 3.4 seconds to get to 60 mph, while the Turbo S, with the help of all-wheel drive and its standard PDK, is said to manage the feat in 3.1. (We predict both models will actually be quicker in our testing, considering Porsche’s typically conservative estimates and the fact we pedaled a Turbo to 60 in 2.9 seconds.) The pecking order is reinstated before 124 mph, however. Porsche says the GT2 RS breaks that barrier in 9.8 seconds, with the Turbo S trailing it by one full second. After 28.9 seconds at full tilt in the GT2 RS, you’ll be traveling 186 mph, and top speed is a blistering 205 mph.
Some expected the next GT2 to switch to Porsche’s new, direct-injection 3.8-liter flat-six engine architecture, but this is in fact the final and ultimate iteration of the well-proven 3.6-liter engine. It’s force-fed by two variable-blade turbochargers, one for each cylinder bank. Learning that the explosive powerplant hooks only to a traditional manual is heart-warming, particularly since cars such as the BMW M3 GTS and the Audi R8 GT don’t offer a three-pedal manual at all.
Fuel economy will be of negligible importance to the 500 owners of the GT2 RS, but at 19.7 mpg in the European cycle, it’s pretty efficient. That comes in part from extreme weight shaving, including the use of carbon fiber throughout and Porsche’s new lithium-ion battery, which itself saves 22 pounds. Lightweight door panels and a reduction in soundproofing material are part of the program, too. Porsche says that at 3075 pounds, the new model manages to drop more than 100 pounds compared to the previous GT2, and it is nearly 400 pounds lighter than the recently launched 911 Turbo S.

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Inside, the 911 GT2 RS equipment includes carbon-fiber-reinforced racing bucket seats, an optional nav system, carbon-finish “RS” door sills, and an available Chrono Plus package. The uninitiated can swap out the racing seats for electrically adjustable sport seats. The shift ****, handbrake lever, steering wheel, seat inserts, and headliner are covered in Alcantara. The instruments use yellow needles, and the Clubsport package, which adds a roll bar, a six-point harness, and pre-wiring for a kill switch is a no-cost option (at least in Europe). The infotainment system, air conditioning, and cup holders can be deleted for further weight savings.
The GT2 RS also comes with standard carbon-ceramic brakes, a much-needed stability-control system, and Porsche’s PASM adaptive suspension. The GT2-specific wheels are center-locking and wear 245/35-19 front and 325/30-19 rear rubber; silver, gold, and black finishes are available. There also are carbon-fiber front and rear lip spoilers fitted to unique fascias, and the gigantic wing is specific to the GT2, as well. The front trunklid is made from carbon fiber, as are the rear spoiler lip and the hip-mounted air scoops, and they stay dark no matter which color you choose. The GT2 is available in silver, red, white, and black.
U.S. dealers get the new model in October, but you’d better get your name on a list well before then if you want one of the few units coming here. Only 500 will be made for the entire globe, and American buyers will pay a cool $245,000 for the right to own one. For an instant collector’s item, that’s probably fair. View Photo Gallery
