General Motors has officially unveiled the 2014 Chevrolet Impala at this year's New York Auto Show. Riding on the same bones as the 2013 Malibu, the next-generation Impala boasts a considerably more attractive exterior with plenty of personality. Borrowing the best elements of design from the GM stable, we see more than a little Camaro and Lacrosse in the sedan's front fascia and stylized hips. Buyers can look forward to either standard 18-inch wheels or a slew of larger options, including massive 20-inch rollers. Under the hood, GM has graced the 2014 Impala with a range efficient direct-injection engines, including a 2.4-liter four-cylinder paired with the automaker's eAssist hybrid system.
With 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque, the drivetrain falls well short of the 288 horsepower offered up by the Ford Taurus, though it does so while returning significantly better fuel economy. GM Says the four-cylinder Impala will return 35 mpg highway, six mpg better than the full-size Ford.
Those who need a little extra grunt can step up to the company's tried-and-true 3.6-liter V6 with 303 horsepower and 234 lb-ft of torque, and there's also a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder available that produces 195 horsepower, while all three engines are mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The Impala's long, low proportion has a wind-swept profile that suggests motion, while the range of 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels is tailored to the body to provide that "just right" stance. At the front, low-profile projector-beam headlamps – or HID headlamps and LED daytime running lamps on LTZ – sweep around the corners and frame a wide grille, while a power dome hood conveys performance. The LTZ's LED daytime running lamps provide a contemporary visual statement, along with function.
Sculpted coves in the body sides add to the Impala's design drama, with a signature cue in the rear fenders that acknowledges classic Impala designs. The long greenhouse area enhances the sleek look of the car while maintaining excellent visibility.
The 2014 Impala builds on Chevrolet's signature dual-cockpit interior with greater attention to detail and upscale features – seen in everything from the wraparound flow of the instrument panel into the door panels and the available ambient lighting, to the soft feel of the materials and the premium appearance of the seats' stitching.
The instrument panel integrates a new instrument cluster with a standard 4.2-inch color display with reconfigurable features for the driver information center. The eight-inch touch screen with concealed storage behind it is matched with the available Chevrolet MyLink system.
Comfort and refinement
The 2014 Impala's comfort and refinement are rooted in a stronger body structure, designed to foster a quieter passenger environment and a greater overall feeling of quality. The stiffer architecture also enabled engineers to tune the ride and handling more precisely, for a greater feeling of control and comfort. A comprehensive package of sound-absorbing, sound-suppressing and even active noise cancellation (on four-cylinder models) contributes to the 2014 Impala being Chevrolet's quietest full-size sedan ever.
Premium materials throughout the interior and details such as high-quality fabric, Ultrasuede and perforated leather appointments, complement the quiet environment and give the Impala a substantive look and feel. The seats are bolstered for greater support, and the seat cushions are designed to deliver a firm, premium feel that is just as comfortable on a 500-mile drive as on a five-minute excursion. The rear-seat head restraints fold to improve rear visibility when driving without rear passengers.

Performance and driving experience
Impala's three powertrains all feature fuel-saving direct injection and lightweight components.
Impala's Ecotec 2.4L engine works with the eAssist system to provide electrical assist in certain conditions to help save fuel. It is estimated at 182 horsepower (134 kW) and is expected to achieve 35 mpg on the highway.
The Ecotec 2.5L is part of a new family of four-cylinder engines developed with increased efficiency and greater refinement. It is estimated at195 horsepower (145 kW).
Output for the 3.6L V-6 is estimated at 303 horsepower (226 kW).
All of Impala's engines are matched with six-speed automatic transmissions.

- Collision mitigation braking – Another Chevy first: Radar technology detects a possible crash threat and alerts the driver. If the driver does not appear to react quickly enough or doesn't react at all, this feature intervenes and applies the brakes in an effort to avoid the crash.
- Forward collision alert – Camera technology detects a possible crash threat and alerts the driver, giving him or her time to stop and/or change course.
- Lane departure warning – A camera-based lane detection system that warns the driver of impending lane changes. The camera, mounted near the inside rearview mirror, identifies traffic lane markings and provides audible alerts.
- Side blind zone alert – Using radar sensors on both sides of the vehicle, the system "looks" for other vehicles in the blind zone areas of the Impala and indicates their presence with LED-lit symbols in the outside mirrors.
- Rear cross traffic alert – Based on the radar sensors of side blind zone alert, it warns the driver of vehicles in traffic when backing out of a parking spot – including angled parking. Visual and audible alerts are triggered if moving vehicles are detected.

I like the front and side up to about the rear tire but the trunk looks weird. Im not really sure how to explain it but i just dont like it.

I think it's an improvement over the past Impala.
I still believe that GM competes against itself or their
Buick Division Models of same & similar styles & cost.

You've never seen a 1981 Yenko Camaro? Maybe that's because only 19 were made and they usually sell for well north of what a new Camaro will cost you from your local Chevrolet dealer.
One gorgeously restored, matching numbers example is up for purchase on eBay Motors for the eye-watering Buy-It-Now price of $180k. But please consider the car's claimed history and stat sheet before passing judgement.
As the legend goes, in 1969, Yenko Chevrolet of Murray, Pennsylvania took a 12-year break from modding Camaros. But low compression '80s engines got under the skin of Don Yenko, and in 1981, the tuning legend proceeded to cram a turbocharged, four-barrel, 350 V8 under the hood of the second-generation car. Horsepower on the rare Yenko is unclear, but it should definitely be way more than the stock Z-28's meager 175 hp. Reports suggest this was to be Yenko's final big build, and the owner of this eBay find says this one is the very last 1981 Yenko produced.
On top of all that, the Charlotte, North Carolina seller says that the car has fewer than 30k miles, some of which were supposedly put there by curious automotive journalists. The winning bidder will get the original build sheet, window sticker and a production intent letter signed by Don Yenko.

With the 2013 Shelby GT500 putting out 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet torque, we're guessing that more than a few owners of the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will be looking to even things up via the aftermarket. The speed-obsessed guys over at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering are already putting a few options on the table with a three new upgrade packages that boost the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 to anywhere from 630 to 700-plus horsepower.
Apparently, Lingenfelter was eager to prove the merits of its work, and just a couple weeks after taking delivery of an early production Camaro ZL1 had it out on the track putting down times. The test car, pushing out 720 horsepower, laid down a 10.79 second quarter mile pass at Muncie Dragway in Albany, IN, and later recorded a 202 mph top speed at Continental Tire's proving grounds earlier this week. Coincidentally, that's the same top speed that the 2013 Shelby GT500 reached during its high speed testing at the Nardo Ring in Italy last year.

DECATUR, Ind. - Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) has demonstrated their high-horsepower expertise once again, becoming the first to exceed 200 mph in a new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
Driven by HOT ROD magazine Editor-in-Chief David Freiburger, the Lingenfelter-tuned ZL1 Camaro hit 202.67 mph at the Continental Tire North America, Inc. Uvalde Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas on April 30, 2012.
"The Lingenfelter crew couldn't be more excited to make history as the first 2012 ZL1 Camaro to exceed 200 mph, and to celebrate this victory on the heels of becoming the first company to run a ZL1 in the 10s," said Ken Lingenfelter, owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. "We are very proud to have David drive our car and to share in this accomplishment with HOT ROD magazine, an icon in the world of speed and high-performance vehicles."
On April 18 - just two weeks after taking ownership of one of the first production ZL1 Camaros available to the public - Lingenfelter powered their ZL1 Camaro to its first record run in the 10s, making an impressive 10.79 quarter-mile pass at 134.36 mph at Muncie Dragway in Albany, Ind.
LPE engineers used their expertise to modify the ZL1 Camaro with a Lingenfelter GT9 camshaft; CNC ported cylinder heads; an increased supercharger speed thanks to a 2.3 top pulley and a 5% overdriven bottom pulley; a custom air intake with LPE's race mesh filter; Continental ExtremeContact(tm) DW tires and production ZL1 wheels. The LPE-tuned ZL1 makes 720 HP and 650 lbs. ft. of torque at the rear wheels.
Lingenfelter offers enthusiasts three supercharger upgrade packages - producing 630 HP to 700 HP - for the 6.2L ZL1 Camaro engine, delivering substantial improvements over the factory 580 HP and 556 lbs. ft. of torque while maintaining a safe level of boost and supercharger RPM. With the 2013 Shelby GT500 putting out 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet torque, we're guessing that more than a few owners of the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will be looking to even things up via the aftermarket. The speed-obsessed guys over at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering are already putting a few options on the table with a three new upgrade packages that boost the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 to anywhere from 630 to 700-plus horsepower.
Apparently, Lingenfelter was eager to prove the merits of its work, and just a couple weeks after taking delivery of an early production Camaro ZL1 had it out on the track putting down times. The test car, pushing out 720 horsepower, laid down a 10.79 second quarter mile pass at Muncie Dragway in Albany, IN, and later recorded a 202 mph top speed at Continental Tire's proving grounds earlier this week. Coincidentally, that's the same top speed that the 2013 Shelby GT500 reached during its high speed testing at the Nardo Ring in Italy last year.

DECATUR, Ind. - Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) has demonstrated their high-horsepower expertise once again, becoming the first to exceed 200 mph in a new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
Driven by HOT ROD magazine Editor-in-Chief David Freiburger, the Lingenfelter-tuned ZL1 Camaro hit 202.67 mph at the Continental Tire North America, Inc. Uvalde Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas on April 30, 2012.
"The Lingenfelter crew couldn't be more excited to make history as the first 2012 ZL1 Camaro to exceed 200 mph, and to celebrate this victory on the heels of becoming the first company to run a ZL1 in the 10s," said Ken Lingenfelter, owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. "We are very proud to have David drive our car and to share in this accomplishment with HOT ROD magazine, an icon in the world of speed and high-performance vehicles."
On April 18 - just two weeks after taking ownership of one of the first production ZL1 Camaros available to the public - Lingenfelter powered their ZL1 Camaro to its first record run in the 10s, making an impressive 10.79 quarter-mile pass at 134.36 mph at Muncie Dragway in Albany, Ind.
LPE engineers used their expertise to modify the ZL1 Camaro with a Lingenfelter GT9 camshaft; CNC ported cylinder heads; an increased supercharger speed thanks to a 2.3 top pulley and a 5% overdriven bottom pulley; a custom air intake with LPE's race mesh filter; Continental ExtremeContact(tm) DW tires and production ZL1 wheels. The LPE-tuned ZL1 makes 720 HP and 650 lbs. ft. of torque at the rear wheels.
Lingenfelter offers enthusiasts three supercharger upgrade packages - producing 630 HP to 700 HP - for the 6.2L ZL1 Camaro engine, delivering substantial improvements over the factory 580 HP and 556 lbs. ft. of torque while maintaining a safe level of boost and supercharger RPM.
